i really admire Polaris' work all the way. He is one of the few artists who is continuously evolving & experimenting in terms of sound & technology in a good way.
Big ups for Polaris!

People need education on the history of electronic music:
I cant understand how people despite techno as a new shiny thing, when its been around way before psy and its a very important foundation of it.
That being said there right now a trend to make this tech/house hybrid which has become very popular among psy producers. This is just a copy paste bandwagoning trend that sucks.
Also, todays techno has such a vast spectrum of subgenres, some cheesy some psy, some pure, minmalistic etc. Its a genre that evolves all the time.
but its very clear that is very different from former tech trance (x dream, spirallianz) which was great.

i've often wondered why psy has such a low opinion of DJs compared to virtually any other form of dance music? maybe its the cross over from rock where the (ahem) live act is considered more authentic?

about that, id say...
1. psytrance isn't really a genre where you can work on your mixes easily. its more about track selection.
2. there aren't that many good dj's around.

I think you're making a very, very wide generalization that is not a true indication of 'the psy'. In my area the DJs are very highly respected.

I obviously cannot talk about everywhere- but in the mid/late 90s certain Djs were as big - if not bigger - draw than most live acts.. where as now it often seems at big parties & festivals that the DJs are just there to fill in between the "live" acts..
(Not that I think this is a good thing..)
