u know when an artist/s becomes more and more famous...
and after a couple of years full of great tracks and excellent ideas everybody loves him(them)...
and suddenly the first "sucks ass" track (to borrow the phrase from Eric Cartman ) from him/them comes out?
then.... guess what.... almost everybody likes this track..!
i don't want you to tell me if you agree cause i see this happening everyday with almost everybody..
i want you to tell me what YOU do when one of your favorite artists releases an awful track..
do you give it more credits just because its from "him!/them!" ? or do you judge it objectively?
and when you give lots of credit for a great track of a new artist/s... do you give it the same as you would to your favorite? is "the name" interfearing with your judgement?
thanks

I'm sure everyone will say that they judge objectively, even though they doesn't.
If it was like that, then you can just buy albums without even knowing who made it. After all, it's just the music and not the name. But the truth is that people do judge by the name, and it may change their opinion a bit.

Another thing, is that most successful artists have a lesser chance of releasing bad tracks, because of their longer experience.
If they do make a bad one, maybe then can simply just not release it, because they're successful and releasing one track won't hurt them that much.
And there is always the act of forgiveness: "His last album was amazing, so I'll just ignore his fuckup on that latest compilation"

Yeap Kosmos is right.
This happened to me with the Synthetic album, when i first heard it i was SO dissapointed.
Then i gave it a listen about ten more times and tried to find out something good in it.
Today i just love the album,i had to love it cause its Dado behind it and i just love Dado's music

I'm do both things you've said.
When a top-of-the-line artist (for me) like Logic Bomb does a track i don't like, i try to find something in it.
And when i like a track from a new artist, i try to be on the lookout for him. And the name influences very much... Many projects with shitty names don't go very far... Of course there are exceptions, but i use that a general rule and it works (even with dj's) - i know this doesn't make sense but i use it as a golden rule in parties. |

well, many tracks i don't love from various artists that i like, it happens always i think. but then suddenly as you said i'm starting to love it, and not because "i have to", something happening in my mind. like it was with getting into progressive or minimal tunes while some artists changed their direction or new artists came.
