Hey all, well, like many of us, we came to trance from other styles of music which, after trance were either dropped, or not payed attention to,
anyway, about 3 and a half years ago i stopped listening to "prodigy", and now, just out of curiosity i descided to try to listen to them again and see if they have a connection to trance, anyway what i found is that infact some of their tracks may have a touch of psychedelia, does anyone agree with this? Do you think that "prodigy" somewhere in their music might be connected to trance?

BOM!!!

Peace!!!(now you really need this one).

BOM!!!

well, i kinda agree. but i think that all electronic music has its psy taste, i mean after all, it's suppose to sound different and fucked up, right?

i'm listening to Prodigy-"fat of the land" as i type. i notice some little psy-hits. well, i havent listen to this cd since a month after i got it, that was 2 months after it came out. so basicly, since 4 years ago. thats got me in the mood of listening to Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, DJ Rap, Bjork, Keoki, Carl Cox, and Praga Khan..just to get in touch with old school favs.

right now, i'm hanging out with a childhood friend, so its cool to listen to music that we use to listen to in junior high. hard to believe im a senior now :)

well, i hope my opinion helped with your question, latahs

Well , imho , in some manner it HAS some psy sounds in it , but not just prodigy ,
There's also Psy-rock as we all know , and psy-house .
The Prodigy aren't that bad at all , I used to like them when I was younger , and I still like a bit of their stuff .
I agree w/ Patrick anyway :)

Now I gtg to c the doc. cuz I'm feelin like piece of shit , so Cheers .

People forget that the definition of psychedelic music doesn't start with trance... Sure the Prodigy have there psychedelic bits, and they have the most evil percussion in history (which trance producers can learn a lot from, btw), but it really isn't trance... just isn't.

The prodigy play around with there music, they have abit of rock, techno, old school, jungle, reggae and ofcourse some psy!!
I personally like the prodigy, all of there albums from the first till the last!!
Like "out of space" "charlie"(oldies) and many, many more!!
Psychedelic sounds have been used and abused in many types of music scenes, even freakin POP artists and HIP-HOP artists are using the sounds!!!
I agree with Asaf, i wouldnt put the prodigy under the category of trance,i would say they´re under the category of old school/electronic music!

Great electronic music, but not trance for sure... :)

i love their albums "experience" and "music for the jilted generation"... didn't like much "fat of the land" though...
