I write a few trance genres, full on, progressive, and ambient.
Is it essential for me to have a different name for each one of them or I can use my SOUND SURGEON name for all of those genres?

I personally always like artist that release it all under one name...i mean, its all made by the one guy I like a diverse album with everything on it as well.

i can see the point for side projects though...especially from a dj's point of view, with so much music to sort through you kind of need to know that 'artist a' writes in 'style x'.

have a nice day

Are you serious man?

you decide what you want for yourself - at least about your name.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Thats what I want to do. But Im not a person who is releasing an album now so maybe I should seek for other names besides the one I have no.
I personally prefer to make everything under my name and not to search for soemthing withjout a meaning for me.

Trip, I decide about the name. But labels can decide what music to release. I cant release full on under X records and be signed for progressive in label Y.
Or can I?

lmao

I think it's always good to have some names in stash, especially for the time a demo of yours gets accepted. pin a list on the wall and as soon as you get a positive reply in form of a record deal you can decide in a split second what name you want to use. think about it this way, too many names and you'll never get recognized           soundcloud.com/epsylohm

I guess you would make the life easier for DJs/people/labels if you have different project names.           ...GrooveŽnŽdooR...

write what ever you like but if you want to release an album than it should be on one style.
my advice to you is to find what you are best at and focus on that. a lot of artist have side projects of ambient but I think you have to decide what is your main way.

i would advise to use a different name, or you'll confuse your listener.

Example: tricky is a trip hop producer. Once he made a rockNroll album, but he did it under his tricky name... That didn't just damage the sales of that album, but also his own name, because people don't trust that they will get what they expect when they buy his new stuff... He should have given a new name to his rockNroll project and there wouldn't have been a problem. He probably expected that his name would make the album sell (notoriety is important), but as it turned out it just blew up in his face...
