NO, without the copyright holders permission, and depending on the license it is released under.

good point. people on this forum are always talking so much about piracy, speeches about buying and suporting, bashing rapidshare links or p2p softs, but then its ok to post links with the songs on youtube? weird.

first i thought it has something to do with the files, i mean, in youtube case you are not downloading and you dont have the file in your computer. but then its just a matter of time until you can have acess to all youtube songs on your cel, and then its not too distant of piracy

Don't forget that the soundquality on youtube is quite poor - even compared to the pirated mp3-rips circulating on the net. Not saying that it necessarily makes it ok though, but apparently lots of labels and artists have seen a promotional potential in youtube instead.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

Which is why I when I do HD videos for youtube of tracks/musicians that inspire me, I always get their permission. Apart from he odd on or two aloof "nose in the air" seeming types, they are always more than happy to cooperate, and even on occasion to give an unreleased track to visualise and give away for free.

It really is just rude to not even be bothered to ask in the first place for permission imho.

You should of seen the musician/artist who ripped one MY videos for one of his tracks without asking, I ripped his metaphorical arse to shreds...

Of course afterwards once he had eaten humble pie, being the hippy I am, I offered to make him an original video for one of his tracks.

Not necessarily. Nowadays you can put a video with a pretty good sound quality.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Enforcement is non-existent as you may notice. I mean, has anyone ever been charged for piracy in this scene? Or for "unauthorized public performance" i.e. DJing? Or any of the other things we can't technically do with music?

you can download from youtube with different converters - I personally use youtube to promote some stuff of my own through!

But I have no clue about the legal rights on youtube           www.myspace.com/orbitallauge
