Depends on who you ask... I personally hate listening to producers that are not adequate djs. I don't like listening to people fade mix any dancefloor tunes. That's also just me beacause I was a dj before I started producing

it is not important as we could say for what hes trying to do(produce tracks),but ithink that every producer starts djing other people stuff...
so it is more likely to find producers with great mixing skills than not.
but its not that important for me.
producer dj is something else from club/bar dj.

hello, i think a producer should know the basic structures of the music he is interested in, by knowing this i gues is not that hard to learn to mix, plus if u put time and dedication into this .
I have seen big artists like raja ram for example doing horrible trainwrecks and i didnt feel very good, for the party and him, sooo yes i like producers to know how to mix, because is not that hard ( i think producing ur own tracks is way way harder).

One more thing, i have been a dj for over 4 years and have been very dedicated to it, and i dont think fade mixes equal bad mix, im always always like to beatmixx some tracks BUT also fade in some tracks so u can get the intro and the first bars clean, which generally is the parts of the song i like the most, since i dont like fullonish breaks in the middle of the tracks that just gets too noisy, anyway, im kinda stoned so nevermind huahauahua

The bottom line is, if a producer can't mix, then he/she souldn't take advantage of the situation and DO mix. That's very lame.
But then again, Psytrance doesn't require as much skills as a house DJ or HipHop DJ does.           -------------------------------------------------

I think it is important bacause the only way to get money from psytrance is to DJ, moreover by Djing you promote yourself and your music. So from my point of view it is very important.

You are right Aviad. I forgot the financial aspect of it, but for money, it is just fair enough to deliver at least a satisfactory job.           -------------------------------------------------

Yep that's important but you can get the money by performing your own music and for a producer that's more important!           --

Or you could just focus on making good tunes and have other people with dj skills promote them for you. And then make money on doing live performances.

I'd rather have a good dj playing my stuff than actually try to mix it myself with other people's tunes (which would most likely be a sad presentation )           *In AjmaGard We Trust*

i think you'll get tired of playing your tracks with so much beautiful tracks out there personally i prefer the mixing concept to a live act cause i know the effect of my playlist on a dancefloor... if i just had the the oppurtunity... the skill... the equipment...

AjmaGard, in perfect situation this is the case, so you are right, producer do produce and DJ do play, although since more man like to rave rather to buy CDs, the artists need some what income!
I would say it is up to artists to decide what to do, i know that known DJs outside of psytrance buy playbacks from musicians, so they can boost there and there so it wil sound unique and play these.

if you´re a producer, there will probably come a time when someone will hire you to play both live and dj set, and since this is your job, you´ll always want more income.
