I dont know really, Perhaps they dont compress the wav files. Give it a try and see if the classic soundcloud ringing is there           .

i think for the most part mp3 compresses more depending on you selected bit rate and/or sample rate. WAV sounds more clear for the most part. Although to my ears I don't hear any difference when i go from wav with a sample rate of 44.1khz and bit rate of 32 bit (and if its the final render of a mix i with have my dither options turned on to mp3 at with a bitrate of 320kbps. idk how much soundcloud compresses. i've never heard anything to much from my tracks via sound cloud, but i have heard others have issues with soundcloud limiting and compressing their work. :/           http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik

I have heard people say that if you upload with more head room you can avoid some problems           --

SC compresses files to 128k mp3 - for listen online.
I don't hear any difference between 320k and wav files imported to SC but I have crappy soundsystem Probably its better to upload a wav file, then you have only 1 time compression to mp3 but i'm not sure for 100%

if the file is already 128 does it still reconvert??

also upload time is considerably more with wav than mp3, considering ireland's appallingly shitty broadband infrastructure this isnt gonna change soon

always worth to try with wav if mastered properly or mixed well. never mind uploading 320kb instead, wont be that much of a difference.

anyways, whatever you will upload there, SC will compress again, dunno about the format it will be converted to.

im not fine with the headroom solution, give it yourself a go and compare. imo it sounds best on soundcloud when compressed and mastered properly.

any file uploaded will be converted again if download is enabled, you give a solution to the user to get the original file. it will be the same you uploaded....

hope was kinda help, cheers           FUCK GENRES, LOVE MUSIC!!!!
