Seriously listen to mid-90s stuff and there's all kinds of bassline rhythms
listen to stuff made today and it's all just BA-da-da-da-BA-da-da-da...

totally good point. today it better be high energy from beginning to end... no patience for buildups for trippy lazy parts etc.. thats the demands of the modern dancefloor - raised as we are on quintin tarantino, the ole ultraviolence, and mtv quick cuts... action action action....
so the trick is how to noodle around without seeming lazy or pointless...
quite a predicament...

how can you make a goa track if you actually are not from goa?
it's like dicks from the U.S who claim to play kvlt norwegian black metal when they are from some preppy high school!

GoaTrance was as far as I know made by non Goans in it's days, mostly English music junkies etc made Goatrance or dance music out of KFL, depeche mode tracks and so on, cut tape and past it togther and vollà they managed to produce danceoriented bombom mosakk.
Black Metal was not invented in Norway, in the 80's there where some kids who draw inspiration from a English group named Venom and they copied this music which later became their own style and as it grew in popularity it became the heavier Norwegian Black metal you are refferaing to, but its inspiration came from England, much like Goatrance. Venom was teater and play, not so serious. The Norwegian took it death serious so it became a much stronger genre, or smth like that.
I would like to put your second statement up to the wal but donno wghat to write..
peace and heavy metal hair grease

and what is funny is that i remember the old goa and the 96/97 psychedelic sound working better on dancefloors after 98 we were dancing like in house clubs ,and with maybe 2 or 3 tracks blasting the dancefloor in a partie...but oldschool set these day dont work that great..taking the good things about the old psytrance and making it sounding fresh would work but it have to sound like something new |
