Man I am a hardcore old school gamer. I am too broke to get xbox 360 or ps3 but to be honest the old games are where its at. I'm talkin 16 bit son. I mean ps2 is good and all and ofcource psx is amazing and even dreamcast but I feel that games are gettin too much into graffx and forgetting about storyline and gameplay. Please let me know if i'm wrong. I never even got an xbox. I always hated xbox. |

you're definitley wrong. Improved graphics and more sophisticated game engines allow for much greater story telling than in the past.
but it's true that sometimes game productions focus too much on visuals and presentation, that they forget what games are supposed to be about - and thats FUN.
im a gamer since 1986,and because of that i have a special place in my heart for oldschool games, but whenever i try using them today,i lose intrest after a few minutes. we can't go back...only forward.
oh and yeah f**k Xbox....PS3 is where its at

Well I have to respectfully disagree. I love playing old games. I have a collection of emu's and roms. Like every genesis game and snes and nes and turbo graffx 16. My fav thing is to look for good hacks or translations of games only released in Japan. So fun. By the way , I really like your music ace ventura. One of the first people I started listening to when I started to get into psy. |

well I think PC is the most complete option for hardcore gamers, with RTS, RPG and shooters alll over the place.
best games are realesed for PC, and you can have also old ones.
For example Civilization, the idea is the same as the first one, but it has improved many things making it tons of fun.

When it comes to action games, platforms, sports and shooters then for sure consoles are superior to PC but when we are talking about strategy games, rpg's,adventures and simulations then PC rules big time.
Me i prefer pc games to be honest.

It's a good old debate but your best option is to check the grades of the new popular games. It's getting harder and harder to release a next-gen game that really suck. Games are a very budget heavy issue and it takes many months of work before it's being released. So if you check the scores of the games that are being released on X360 or on PS3 in the last 2 years you'll find very very few games that go below 70% grades. There are a lot of both critically and economical successes these days. Of course there are games that for some reason bomb but it's not as common as 5 years ago for example.
The following games are the biggest titles of the last year and all of them are great looking and also very fun (IMHO) games:
GTA4
Call of Duty 4/5
Gears of War 1/2
Resistance 1/2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Little Big Planet
I haven't played them all but they are the biggest best sellers at the moment and they are also critically acclaimed.
