i know this sounds really stupid....but i'm an amateur trying to do some trance....but its been a while (almost 6 months) since i did any effort becoz of new job, new city, tight schedule blah blah.....

i still do listen to music regularly, but its just that my creative side has been inactive for quite some time....will this affect my production skills, should i need to go back to the "drawing board" and start afresh or is it possible for me to continue one of my old tracks???

and will the little skills that i have go off if i take a break for say another six months????

i think that should be yourself to evaluate that.. since everyone is diferent..
but well, as times goes by things that you do not practice or apply (that reside in memory) will fade away...
i had seen a page with the % of how much fades away by how much time.. if i find it, i'll paste it here...

plur           this is how we are ought to see how sound really is..

I have the same problem... I did something like 4.30 min. of a track but everytime i open it and try to continue i just feel like i don't have anything worthy to add.
It's a shame because it sounds like a great beginning for a track, but i just don't feel comfy to continue it...

Anyways it's here for you to evaluate

Pavel - I know that feeling. Make something else and come back to it later.

i think you can do both

go back to the old track and enjoy the new things you have in your mind after 6 months
and if you are not feel connected you can always start a new one

good luck

thanks for all ur inputs, but my main question is not whether or not to continue my old track, but how much creativity i would have lost during my 6 month "sabbatical"....i know it differs from person to person, but would it really affect a lot??

thanks again...plur

well my friend, in my opinion i think that you might lose some technical skills after long time not touching the computer for making music BUT the creativity is always continue to flow- ofcurse it is all depend on the experience you had in the last 6 monts - you don't have to be in the studio in order to "save the creativity" even walking on the street hearing cars and peoples and new sounds of whatsoever it increasing your mind creativity, again in my opinion

after all the creativity never stop coming unless you are in a weird, unsatisfied priod of life.

Keep on the good mood
