well check out this band from France called Hilight tribe : they play live pytrance/dub/funk on stage with bass and drums. Also the rythm section sounds quite good on their recordings
might give you an idea of what can be achieved with instruments |

I haven't done it myself but I must say that I luuuv when real instruments are blended with synthesized elements. For me, it's one of the ways to increase the authentic feeling, that I think much psytrance lacks today. More real instruments 4 the ppl! |

heyo,
i make all my synth basses w/ analog modular equipment. usually either a Blacet VCO, or a Plan B Model 15 VCO, or one of my Oberheim SEM VCO's. I run it through either a Doepfer Wasp Filter or the amazing 2 pole filter in the SEM. i record everything through a tascam fw1082 interface, which is surprisingly good.
i like to originate all my "trippy sounds" w/ analog hardware.... it makes for a pretty difficult mix (tons of high frequency info that VSTi's just don't produce), but a very very unique sound. |
