if you go for monitor it's your choosing which ones.
For an amlifier - all flat ones will cost around 300$ maybe more.

Try alesis amplifier - nice one.

About passive / active - i dont believe all that shit it's all a matter of combine - monitor vs amplifier

As was previously said,
active are better to buy.

for 4500nis, u can buy considerably good for the price: m audio monitors.

or - Alesis mk2
or - samson for less
or esi...
or even tannoy reveal..

there are many budget monitors, and they are new. Choose the best budget one though.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Actually I think that passive monitors with descent amp are much better than any 'budget deal' of active monitors. Have any of u really thought of what does he / she pay for actually?

Lets take the Tannoy reveal as an example. Passive speakers cost 2200nis ( around 400 euro ). Active on the other hand cost 400 euro more. Do u know what brand is the amp in the speakers? does it worth another 2000 nis? I bet MOST of the decks between 1500 and 2000 nis better in quality and performance, not to speak about second hand studio amps.

The 'Active' monitors were invented exactly in time when everyone can afford the home studio and they exactly like Hi Fi system that were invented exactly the same time stereo systems were affordable by any suck big time. I am not talking about top notch monitors of the Genelec class that are expensive enough to be classy with their amp too,.. if u can afford those then go for it..

But i truly believe that around 5000 nis is enough to purchace nice passive speakers and an amplifier and u will get better response from your system ( and maybe your pocket )           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

that's what i was thinking......
i mean no doubt that actives like dynaudio have
a decent built-in amp which is adjusted exactly for
the speaker and so on.....
i think i will go for the event after all. i think it's a good offer.
and i never liked beringhers sound.. dunno why =\

thanks for all good ppl with answers           Youth of the Galaxy...

What's adjusted? It's an amp - it gives out electrical signal. It's no glove..

an amp is definitely a GLOVE there are many amps around there that are not accurate enough, or not powerful enough or too powerful for given speakers. Choosing an amp is maybe little less attractive and interesting then choosing monitors but still there are a lot of differences between the gloves.

And yes Behringer copy everything they can and to say that Truth's are the same as Mackie is a little funny - u mean they have the same LOOK like mackie... Ofcourse it is a personal opinion but Truth's are imo one of the worst sounding ever at least not for reference that is - maybe for home listening they are nice but then I would go for B&W or something classey like that

Yuli, if the amp is too powerful, is it wrong working on lets say 50% power?
I think my amp is too powerful for my speakers, at 50% I think that my ears & speakers are about to blow up.
So I usually work at 30-40 volume. Any wrong in that?

Yuli, when you say passive Tannoy Reveal you mean the red ones? What amps should suit those monitors? Will average Hi Fi Reciever should do the job for me? What specs do i need to check before buying suiting amp for passive monitor?

First I want to state that I am nt a big expert of choosing the right amp myself and usually use the help of those who dounderstand the electronic part of it. Basically, for medium studio monitors 6" to 8" an amp with 100 - 120 watts each side should be enough. Ofcourse providing yourself with power amp is better then receiver and if u can get a studio Crown brand or such, then u got it really good. But I believe that in comparison of active Tannoy Reveal amp and most of the 400 euro amps u will find there is a fair chance the 400 euro amps will be better either if its power amp or a receiver.

In many active Events were fuckups that caused air coming out thru them as if they were sub woofers ( from the doof of the sub ) which created extra noise and distorted the sound. This was caused by a floppy work ofcourse but wouldnt happen at all if there was no need to make extra holes in the body of the speaker to fit an amp there in the first place.

To Mike A:

Some say that to get the best quality from an amp, it is best of using it in full power.           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Well, that receiver I got here is one of the best from Yamaha (for that price range - 400 eur).

And I thought using an amp on full power makes it distort?..

What might distort it is the fact that your speakers are not strong enough for the amp. The guys that made it made it able for full power           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman
