Hey guys, firstly I will just note that I have removed the bugmenot account from our website deliciousmusic.co.nz. Not being an A-hole or anything... But I do strongly feel that the music we have to offer in exchange for filling out a quick registration form is a pretty good deal. I will also note that it is optional to supply an image.. It's just if you would like your image to appear in the latest users list.

With no image provided the form would throw an error ("wrong image format" or something).
I am really sorry if I offended you. It's just that I think you are shooting your own foot. With no chance to even get a glimpse of what to expect, having to signup (and thus giving away one's email address) is too much. Music promotion via the internet is all about free access.
You are using a creative commons license for all the music, that is awesome. It made me interested in the first place.
Just let visitors stream even 64kbps mp3 or something. I only see advantages.
Imagine if I said "Hey, give me your name and email address and I will let you download some music. It might suck or it might be good, you'll find out later". Of course I know what you'd get, but you would be wary.

I had the same problem with the user image. It wasn't marked and mandatory (*), but it wouldn't let me complete registration without selecting a local image to upload.  |

The fact that you think badly of his promoting techniques doesn't make them illegitimate. The guy offered you his music for an email address and your traffic. Take it or leave it. Posting direct links hear to overpass this simple fair deal is being an ass, I feel.
