Hello to everyone! I finally signed up for this forum and thought I'd introduce myself and offer a track for your listening pleasure (or torture, as you see fit).

I'm from Seattle, WA in the USA and I'm one of just a few who make psytrance in this area. My project is called Psionyx, and has been around a couple years though there aren't many finished tracks yet.

You can find one of them here, called "Whirled Axis":

Comments welcome, and I hope to become a "regular" around here

Any feedback on Whirled Axis? Come on, that's what this forum is about right????

j/k - I've already got lots of good feedback on the track (but a little more never hurts eh).

Hey man thanks for the compliments!

Yeah my tunes are often twisted yet melodic with very little repetition. In fact sometimes I worry that it's almost TOO non-repetitive...

peace!

It's *almost* ready for CD release, it just needs some EQing and some level adjustment here and there. Quite tricky for a track this long which has so little repetition it's almost like 10 tracks in 1!

I'm working on a new mid-tempo track (120bpm) which is turning out really nicely. I'll be sending out demos once that is finished.

I'm busy listening right now >|||||| Nice energetic intro, I love the way all the sounds intertwine, hmmm... when the kick comes in it hardly exists, I think you should pump it up a tad. Absolutely! I'm thinking goa here, however I still think you could compliment the kick with a steady fat bassline. The effects work very well and sections flow nicely into one another - maybe extend some of them into each other, in other words without drum breaks. You certainly have a knack of keeping energy levels up, you could push the energy even further with some dramatic pauses here and there juxtaposed with some wacky samples to bring in the kick ||||||> Okay, it's finished! Very nice indeed...

... by the way, would you mind if I sent you a new graphic for your main artist image on your mp3 page? I would be honoured to do a spruced up "psionyx" design...

Thanks for the comments!

I agree with most of what you said. The kick intro is a bit weak, and to be honest I'm not happy with most of what's going on in the low end. To be even more self critical, the bass track is *too* emphasized, and needs EQ.

Glad you liked the rest of it though... you're giving me inspiration to go back and tweak it some more, which is good! I really burned out on that track since it took almost six months to finish. Ugh...

As for artwork for the mp3.com page, YESSSSS! I would be eternally grateful, as my own little banner blows goat heads (i.e. sucks). I just sent you email...
