GyPsynate - i sense sarcasm but you dont reinforce it in the end of the post, so its true you "dont waist time on the intro anymore"

yes i understand your point dj chichke but musically its not valid.. and so you also said

im with Euphorica, intros needs some attention!
and the intro can really set the mood and also make for great fooling...

interesting discussion....

depends on your genre. Im a fullon artist and i make about 45 secs of intro on a track. (16 bars)

normaly dark tracks go straight into the kick n bass to start off rippin peoples heads off. (NORMALY, not always)

all depends ;D

u like more melodic shit? make a longer intro.
like more electric shit? make shorter
dont know? then no point in reading this xD

jk... but i hope this helped!!

you dont have to take this advice. its just what I personally believe and do. (it also makes more sense if u think about it for a little)

Yea... I like long intros.... and outros too...
Shows that there is some character to the track... and some serious thought process involved as well..
Unless its a lot of horror and screaming ....

I agree that the start of the track is very important, I just dont agree that it needs to be a huge story in its self.
I think that the ending of a track is worth more time then the intro. We create all this energy build up and some dont ever let it pull back in a gental way.I'm ok with a straight 4-4 to start but not a clean cut from energy to zip.
Lately I have been doing like about a 10 - 30 sec intro and like I said it is mostly like a pad to start with bring in some vocal sample maybe a cool sound or two and then a whoosh to 4-4 to get-er-go'in. I think the 1st 2-3 minutes of a song is where you really set the mood.

I make music to DJ and dance to, I do not appologise to those who only listen to music at home wishing I had a longer intro.
In my 1st lot of music I had huge intro and outros and even my breaks were huge. Now I'm not into that sound, I want the music to PUSH me through just when I think the break is come'in it steps it up a level...
Dont get me wronge I like most types of psytrance but some is just borning and to similar.
Topics like this feed that type of thinking. Not all psytrance needs to sound the same right?
Please lets get past this kind of thinking.

If a track needs a long intro you cant argue... hehe
if it dont need one you cant argue either...

I dont set a limit... but when there is action you cant wait too long for it to start then you lose it... something mystical and weird i like... at least for my night psy...
I think even if you dj you come to a point where a 5-10sec break or more is needed to shake lose and suck up all those energies for the next ride... sort of like a release....

really i think for parties djs and artists should work together to make a ultimate experience... a well planned evening, night and morning could do all the difference....

i'm a dark trance dj, and producer, and i can agree with those who sayd about the fast intros!

most of then are quickly!

but nowadays i'm trying out new ways of introducing... i think it depends most on the theme that you thoght first....

Intro and outro is a good time to show your capabilities as an artist. Without all walls of structure that KB brings...

I think 50 sec intro is enough for my new tack

atmosphere should set the rhythm and feel of overall track.

I fucking love long intros, and huge atmospheric breaks... especially under the influence.

If you're going to put an ambient intro at the beginning of your track, you should do it keeping in mind that it will rarely be heard, and so it should not be a vital part of the track.

There are a lot of tracks that I love which, without the intro and outro, are much diminished in awesomeness-"On Air" by son kite would be an example.

You also might want to consider adding some subtle rhythmic element to your intro so that DJs can mix through it instead of just skipping to where the bass drops.

I like intro's that crash in hard so you can use it as a break between tracks, but also make it sound very deliberate.

Personally I think a lot of intros sound quite forced and packed with cliche's like bitcrushers and filters on kicks, bass etc. I prefer more original ways to imply the groove of the track.

For album listening I love it when a track has maybe a bars worth of break in the last section, then kicks right back into the beat on the next track.

It seems a lot of producers make a track as if it's the only track they're ever going to write and feel the need to pull out all the stops, intros being one of them.
