so basically the question or challenge is to come up with a system that prevents people from posting interviews about themselves.

goood idea 
we can hav interviews which are updated after every new album that comes out for that particular artist or even every track...
He cud paint the picture he wants to paint on the dance floor wit the song , in words 
booommm ... hope this works out

i think its a cool idea ....artists commenting on their own albums sound good...we cud get to see how the artist look at their own tracks .....
moreover there could be a few fixed ppl who cud take intreviews...and all interviews could be posted only via the moderator ...  which wud hopefully slove the shameless promotion factor

i know there are... but an interview section could allow anyone to post interviews... i see how that could be problematic in some ways. but there is always ways around problems too...

I usually post interviews in the Promotional Section.
In fact I post a link to my website: http://www.fullonline.net/interviews/ , I could post the whole interview in the Promotional Section, but there are several drawbacks:
- It's very difficult to do the proper formatation.
- There are not enough formatation resourses (colors, font sizes, etc).
- No way to post pictures.
So I think an Interview Section inside the forum is not an good idea.

I agree with full-on...without proper resources a seperate interview section wont look very attractive...
here, see these interviews and tell me if they will look half as nice if they were just run-on text...and how would the artits feel...
