I have bought some original psytrance albums that have the following writtings in the back cover:

Produzido por Sonopress Rimo - Indústria Brasileira

Which means:

Made by Sonopress Rimo - Brazillian Industry
or just made in Brazil.

Also distributed by TradeSound.

Examples are the compilation Accelerator 1.0 from Turbo Trance Records and the Astrix - Artcore album by Hommega.

My questions are:

- is it good? Because I pay the same price I pay for real imported CDs. Who is making money with this?
- Am I losing anything in quality (like in cover, sleeve or even in sound quality)?
- is it common? I other countries this same thing happen?

Thank you.

some labels do work like this.
its like having "branchs" in other countries...
or the local distributer prints the cds, ofcourse with permission from the label.
less costs @ printing & shipping

if u got it in a record store it should be ok.
what comes to mind is the last joujouka cd i got here in israel... was released buy EMI japan.
but was printed and dstributed buy NMC for the local stores

There was a habbit in Israel to re-master foreign CDs for some unknown reason. I have a local version of Prodigy's Music For Jilted Generation that sounds much worse than the original UK version. I fail to understand what is the reason to do something like that...           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

Pavel, that's what I'm worried about: buying something different that the real original.

Not on the cover, but someone who taught me in college sound told me that it is or rather was a common practice in Israel. I am not sure about Jilted Generation. Only what my ears are telling me.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

If this question is to me, the answer is no. It's not mentioned anywhere. Just says it was produced in Brazil.

I believe it is the same as the original, but I don't know for SURE, that's why I opened this thread (and the learn a little more about this).

These albums costs the same price as imported albums, so I still can't see a point, except that someone else is making money.

i'm sure people are making easy money out doing this... it's good bussiness for the labels to sell more and accept foreign proposals to reproduce albums. this thing happens not only in psytrance but in the music industry... as for the quality, i don't buy them because imho they are worse. why: equipment is outdated, press sucks even the case used is often the cheapest. The foreign representatives have to sign contracts that do not grant them a lot of money out of the selling so they make money reducing the quality, even the ink used is worse, the media, everything... Talking serious.... But in the psytrance field I wouldn't dare if lame people remaster the tracks or even make terrible things like selling mp3 albums or promoting their own stuff through internationally acclaimed artists, all this with agreement (or not) of the real label which will not (might not) investigate or preocupy with the shit that is being sold overseas.... sad but true!           cna't find it

It seems that unfortunately I was right to be worried...

I'll pay more attention in this issue.

Maybe there's a good Label partner that still keeps the quality up... I heard about Vagalume Records... Anyone heard anything about it?

The reason somebody might release an album through a brasilian company is to avoid import taxes which are very high in Brasil.
So in the end this should be substancialy cheaper.

And yes Vagalume Records are known, good people.

Carambola Records too Napo........serious ppl tryin to make the best.
About Accelerator 1.0,i remember when the guys(W.F.C.) were preparing everything to release it........they had to delay it for more than a month til they get the same quality on the cover art, which was very beautiful and complex......
Anyway....it´s a great initiative to make CDs with affordable prices for us........u know how expensive it is to import CDs to Brasil......

Hey full_on, I think it´s all ok.

For sure(well, I´m almost sure)that the original imported cd´s has better quality(cover, artwork, cd case), as I´m sure that the quality of the sound is the SAME!

I remember how hard was to finish the Accelerator 1.0 cd, cause of the colours of the artwork. I never saw the national copy although...

So if u want the BEST quality I think u should go for the imported ones.

And u asked about "who´s making money"... Well, Vagalume Records and Solarflares are from the center of the country... WFC and Carambola(Tribe/Solaris crew) are from São Paulo. They are making money for sure, but good for us that can buy many titles here.
