Hey all,

Not sure if this topic is relevant to this section,
Im currently using ableton live to do all my audio production.
But i would like some advice on upgrading the hard disk of my macbook pro 13.3 early 2011 model.

Im looking to upgrade the specs to 7200rpm, storage 240GB in place of my current 5400rpm storage 320.
Im looking more for speed, so in this case would is it advisable to compensate speed for storage on the MB pro since i am also using an external 1TB HD?

Also if I opt for an upgrade, what would be recommended (brand, specs etc.)?

I was recommended this by my local computer hardware store: http://www.advantionline.com/Mushkin-Chronos-Deluxe-240GB-SATA3-6GBPS-Solid-State-Drive-MKNSSDCR240GB-DX.html

All help will be much appreciated.
Thanks all in advance.
Boom!

Have you noticed any crashes due to HDD speed?
I am currently making tunes on my i7 MacBook Pro (which is noticeably faster than my Quad Xeon 2.66 Mac Pro) and the internal 5400rpm HDD has been performing effortlessly...and I use a lot of audio tracks as I mainly use hardware synths and FX.

Using Logic Pro by the way.

Peace out.

A three letter acronym is all you need to know:

SSD!

7200rpm will reduce your battery time, make more noise and it runs hotter in an already hot enclosure (macbooks run hot)

Plus it is still susceptible to the same problems all mechanical harddrives have.

plusses for SSD“s are: higher mtbf, less heat, insane speeds and less powerdraw

plusses for mechanical harddrives:

none compared to SSD“s apart from storage space           Mastering available here:

i have 7200 in my mbp , used mbps with 5400 i think it don't worth the update. my next one 5400 or ssd.

i m not sure but i think inside the daw fast hdd mater only when you record lot of audio tracks at same time and i think a fw drive could be the ticket , not even need to update the mbp drive but a ssd would be nice..
