Intel Q6600 vs Q9550

Hi guys,
Well i'm thinking of upgrading from my existing Core 2 Quad Q6600 to a Q9550. The Q9550 will have a faster clock, FSB & more cache & it will also consume less power & run cooler.
I'm just wondering if anyone has tested these two & if you think the upgrade is worth it. I'll be spending roughly $140 to upgrade after selling my existing processor.
Ideally i would upgrade to Corei7 but then i'd have to get a new motherboard & DDR3 ram, both are quite expensive at the moment.
The Q6600 is getting phased out soon by Intel, hence i want something more future proof & a little extra performance can't hurt.

What harddrive do you have?
I have the Q6600, and I only seem to have problems with my HDD being a bottleneck...

I have a Seagate 7200RPM HDD, i never thought that it would slow the system down though.
Another reason for upgrading is because i want to work at lower latencies. The Q6600 sometimes chokes on large projects at low buffer settings.

what will be better a 250gb 7,200 rpm hd or a 500gb 5,400rpm?

I would go for a WD VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS
300 GB . 10000 RPM... If you want your samples and daw to respond fast, you need fast reading...
