Yeah FREGLE was confusing Centrino with Celeron...Centrino is the good one
I also had a P4 3.4 1Gb RAM and I find my new laptop Centrino 1.86 1Gb also, same ram type, to perform much better...maybe not to the extent of S-Cube example, but Im prety impressed with it And also I don´t get heating problems like I was getting with the P4.

ofcourse, with such a high FSB speed (enhances greatly the speed at which the ram is refreshed and data is plucked out of the ram) and a lot of cache (allows the processor to retain more information without using the RAM) the computer will perform much better. If you couple that with a fast HD with a lot of cache (8Mb or 16Mb) it will be even faster. The chipset is important too... A SiS chipset is significantly slower then a nforce chipset (but the nforce4 chipset has problems with audio...) or an ati chipset.... In short: it all matters. A good graphics card can help performance even for non-gamers (for example, if you let the windows of cubase scroll with the playbar it will scroll much smoother and it will not use cpu-power to render the images) |
