u need a toshiba USB floppy disk drive for the sata drivers (ONLY TOSHIBA ANY OTHER WOULD JUST NOT WORK) This one cost about... 200euro yes its alot.
toshiba service center do this for u for 75 euro.

this is common issue with toshiba laptops that comes with win vista.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

yep i know that,i spend 5 houirs yesterday lookinf in forums and i read about the "golden"floppy...
but where i am now,it is impossible to find(and to be honest i prefer spending those 200 eyros bying an airplane ticket to amerika and go to bill gates home and break his stupid face...)
thanx for answering man

the point is that it is easy to make a new xp disk with the sata drivers,IF YOU MANAGE TO FIND THEM

I just had the same problem with an Acer Aspire laptop. Luckily there was an option in the BIOS that let me change from SATA to IDE. Yours should have that as well, look around for it. XP was able to find the drive after that.

You will probably have to get the right SATA drivers installed from the website after that, and turn the BIOS setting back to what it was originally to get the benefit of the SATA drives.

yeah, your right about nlite. nlite integrates any drivers you want into the XP boot cd - i tried that route first as well before finding that option in the BIOS.

If youve got it detecting your harddisk, that should be good enough. Enjoy.

And yes it is bill gates fault, Im sure you cant buy XP with a boot CD that has SATA drivers integrated, because they dont support it anymore. They are pushing VISTA, which is a horrible OS, like crazy.

My inbuilt realtek sound card wont work under XP for example, and Acer tells me that they dont have drivers for XP because its a "vista laptop". Thats MS using their muscle. Assholes. Sound is working fine under Ubuntu

Wich Toshiba satellite do you have ?
I got the A200-12S and installed xp perfectly with nlite..

everything works, unless the 1 go readyboost flash memory that is just for Vista.

very important for usb & everything is to install intel chipset drivers.

PM me, I could send you some working drivers if your toshiba is quite the same as mine.

Toshiba should have known better, but I totally disagree about the bill gates part. It's the year f*cking 2008 & windows install accepts 3rd party drivers from floppy only. Installer should be able to look on any drive that is loaded.           Keep The Faith,
