Does reading a book, watching TV, taking a walk and so on have an impact on your production skills? How so?
We all know that every artist can face a creational block that prevents him to find the right sound/word/color or what have you.

Maybe not improving the mixing skills, but taking my dog for a walk is good for relaxing and also for inspiration.

If i stay long time in studio i need breaks between the sessions full of ideas. Sometimes there are no new ideas or just a need to do something else. So i do something else and while doing it i often have to think about the stuff i made and how i can do next stuff and so on.

I bought a memorecorder/mp3-player a few weeks ago, and it's great because i tend to get nice ideas when i'm on my bike or walking trough town. Then when i'm at home i try to sequence the stuff that i scat-sing into this little recorder. Also, just making sounds can help if you have no inspiration: keep your sequencer on record while you are making new sounds and afterwards just chop out the stuff you like and put it in folders for later use in tracks.

the base of ispiration is listening. the more you listen the more ideas you'll have. while listening helps but nothing is better than a party like i have a track almost finished and after this one i'll stop till next party... 4th febuary... where i'll watch Absolum vs CPU making the forest a jungle

good things to do while not bored is playing with synths cause it requires no ideas at all (they help but most of my best synths were made while going after a completly different thing). you may get that wonderful synth that'll make a track

@ New era scientist: just some cheap thing branded "Victory" or something like that, it was about 50 euros and has a 512 mb mp3 player. the sound is horrible but it works for recording ideas. If you go looking for one, just be sure you buy one with better sound than this one
