The Union jack is the flag for the United Kingdom which comprises England, Northern Ireland and the Celtic nations of Wales and Scotland.
The English flag is the flag of St George which is a white flag with a red cross.
I think a better description of the english is uptight pedants with highly sardonic and self-deprecating senses of humour.

LOL
exactly
if u state the obvious (I am bitter)
then I state the obvious too (u r english)
notoriously english ppl have a bitter sense of humor...and I love it.
I don't like the union jack tho...like any other national flag to say it all (expecially those ones who conquered and exploited other ppl lands)...but over here (and we all know why) political comments are not very welcome.
it would be nice if you all stop wearing those flags IMHO...it's stuff for hooligans, not music lovers
ps...alert alert...kris (who is far more bitter and unpolite than me) is finally doing some new music...

glad you got my joke maux...i forgot you lived here for a while.
in the interests of furthering the stereotype of an englishman as a pedantic, cricket watching, empire builder who has nothing better to do than correct other people, i would like to point out that the early derivation of hooliganism refers to the raucous behaviour of a a drunken irish family called the houlihans. the term does not in itself denote nationalistic behaviour.
my evidence for this is that fact that the english football hooligans of the 1980's, who popularised the term, were just as happy kicking the shit out of the supporters of other english clubs as they were kicking the crap out of 'foreigners' when england played abroad.

wow....that was a really interesting post I have to say...
rare to learn something new on this pages...tnx spatialize ! (said without any sort of irony or sarcasm)
I reckon that in Devon and that side there is a very peculiar strain of english humor.
I have to say that even after living there for many years...I still don't get cricket...neither Dr.Who.
