I have used it for some time and I love it, though one can only render WAV in 16 bit, at least that is what my version allows me to do. I e-mailed the author about that issue, as I would like to see added support for rendering in 24 bit. That was three or four months ago, but I never heard from him.

haha, the fucked up part is im actually serious the hyper stretch mode can stretch x1,000,000
i'm not sure how usefull it would be for psy, i found on a discussion of dark ambient production. people were complaining that it makes dark ambient way to easy to make. |

I compose both dark ambient and drone stuff myself, and, I personally consider this software as nothing but a tool to help myself express what I wish to depict with my music.
I would be stunned if anyone would walk up to an artist and tell him/her that his/her art was this and that because of the brushes he/she uses...

they did.
thats why oil paint concider more "organic" then photoshop.
both great art , but completlty diffrent.
when you listen to band , you dont care if they use guitar/sitar/violin ? i do , i like sitar and guitar better...
dont you care if they use *real*percussion , or completly electronic percussion ? i do , i like both , but in diffrent way..
not judging or something , but i think it does matter.
and in the same sentence , please please all all all of you stop using DBglitch with the default preset. it gets annoying. specialy the 1000hz signature (or the flanger in old version). yeah i judge those obvious glitches .. it was cool long time ago , but surely possible to understand that you can change the presets...
(still agree in some way , its not the tools , but artists do choose the tools to begin with)

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was that the easiness of the tools does not matter in respect of expressing oneself, as long as the artist can achieve what he/she longs for. Of course, it does matter which instruments are being in use, but keeping dark ambient and drone in mind, would it not be foolish to downplay creations for the software they were made with (i.e. PaulStretch) if the result would have been the same but made in the "old-school" way (i.e. arranging long, slow-modulated pads with too much delay and reverb on)? This is my point and not whether guitar or sitar is being in use - I am sorry if I was not clear with my first post.
Edit: Just something slightly off-topic, but I could not refrain myself from posting as you mentioned the example with Photoshop. I know there are people judging art, but on a personal level, I think it is narrow-minded to put a value on different forms of art, as such to e.g. regard painting with oil to be more truly artistic than creating with Photoshop. The aforementioned statement is, in my humble opinion, true in all cases were the art was created with the sole purpose of being just 'art', thus not compromising with commercial interests (i.e. I do not regard Britney Spears's music and the such-a-likes as truly being art - one might argue that creating music with the sole purpose of appealing to as many listeners as possible would be an art in itself, but that is another discussion I will refrain myself from joining here). Of course, one could compare artistic expressions within a certain style or genre, but arguing as to regard a certain style being more "true" than another reminds me more of a "my daddy is much better than yours"-level of reasoning rather than a serious discussion.

Listening randomly chosen genres stretched to be couple of days long made me thinking the reverse way - recording surround sounds for years then shorten it |
