but sureley this isnt a good promotional thread for south africa - i'm with sarasin,,, shit happen everywhere,,, and u just gott be prepared to deal with it or try to stay away form it,,, shit,, it this modern word u can be anywhere and get fucked up,,, anyone going to london soon??
everywher is dangereous on this planet,, u just have to be carefull of the small places u go,, and if shit seems to be closing in on u,, then get the fuck outa there if u want,, but honestly,, from someone who has seen more of the world than most,,,,
the grass isnt always greener on the other side,,,
sure there are problems here,, but all in all its pretty cool,,, the pros outweigh the cons for me,, or i'd be living in europe and earning 3 times the money!!!

Hey...
I was just telling the truth about Cape Town.....
I think we all just need to remember that we have quite a past that still lingers in the cape town air...
I'm sure that there are plenty places in the world that aren't the most amazing places and places which are amazing.... it's not fair to compare our city/country to other places.... because we are completely unique....
for sure... i love cape town.. no doubt! Just need to remember that ... as Sarasin said... he's got a buddy who lives in Rocklands... who is tight with the neighbourhood... but STILL wants to get da
f$%ck outta there....
Unfortunately ... for a lot of Capetonians.... Cape Town ends at the Southern Suburbs..... and the reality of Cape Town isn't very much in your faces.....
Sorry to bring it all out folks! ... but shit... i'm coloured.

It all depends where you hang out.
I have lived in Cape Town all my life, the whole 40 years (eek yes that is my age). I have been mugged once (I was 14), in a dark alley 9pm, Maitland. My car was stolen in Oranjezicht (against Table Mountain) 18 years ago. Since then my life has been crime free.

to satin boy- true one can be safe in south africa, as u have said-but one has to take imense precautions to be safe, sure u havent been mugged in what 26 years? or your house broken into? because u have a sercurity alarm, you dont walk around at night, u speed over red lights at night when theres no cars, ask the neighbour to watch over the house when ur away ect...and not just you, we all do (well i live in finland now, its "really" dangerous)we have to admit south africa is a VERY dangerous country, regardless if thats not what tourists want to hear....lol, besides the point, the guy who started this forum from like vatican city or something probebly has forgoten this post! =) |

it was not the whites that were evil sarasin.
it was a fucked up goverment that mass manipulated the whites in believing that they were doing the right thing.
this kind of shit has happened so many times, all over the world. still is...
but forsure, i can also understand what is going down in the black man`s mind right now (in SA of course). due to the unfortunate cercumstances they had to face, they don`t have any proper education and don`t know any better. (generalizing) to them , it`s the white man that fucked them and is still fucking them ,seeing as they are still living in shitty conditions while the whites are driving their nice cars and living in nice big houses. not much has changed for them. they don`t understand that this is a change that will need a couple of generations before it is visable. it`s a very sad situation indeed. and it`s not just the blacks either that were droped in the shit of course. so many races got fucked over.
so if you want to go live in SA. best to keep all these things in mind. even though it`s a great country...it`s still in the early stages of recovery. and it`s also not so bad outside the cities. the smaller towns are REALLY still quite chilled out with minimum crime. no hijacks and shit. and it`s not a problem to get to the cities quick.

and regarding israel. i didn`t sence ANY kind of danger there man. this is again nothing but the media showing the world only the worst things.
i had a great time in israel. i felt safer there on the streets at night, than cape town.
