If your signal source has balanced outputs (as most soundcards do), and you are using balanced cables, set your monitors for +4db, you will have better signal to noise ratio.
Do not confuse this -10db/+4db signal setting with db volume levels of your sounds.

No thats not true imo.. -10dbu is homerecording level and +4dbu is studio norm level..
but it could even just be a kind of room compensation if its split by frequencies..
correct me if i`m wrong..
