I really do not understand some of the comments people made here.
First of all,Infected were, and still are one of the greatest trance producers in the world, and that is a fact.Secondly how can people talk bad stuff about them after they have brought us The Gathering,Classical Mushroom, and B.P. I mean sure their style changed, but with every new album they brought out, the style changed. It begins with The Gathering and ends with Vicious.
If people choose not to listen to their new style, for sure go for it,but to talk bad about them just shows...
Anyways I do feel and agree that Infected's old style is 10000 times better. But even their new material is KILLER!
And for my opinion,Classical is one of the best psy trance albums ever made.
Infected had worked with sooo many artists, not including the ones in the psy trance scene. And it can range from Beri Saharov, to Mayumana, and more.
I hope that people will see my point.
Love to all and respect.

Or pizza is marketed to the world in a nice shiny package... And once the world catches wind of the pizza it has hardly any toppings left other than cheese... Where's the mushroom?

Id rather have Infected Mushroom playing than Armin Van Buren or Tiesto, lol... glad that Psychedelic Electronica is making its way into the main stream! this will only lead to more people discovering the magic found in Psytrance and Goatrance

If you look at what Infected was doing, it's quite brilliant. They started by doing something hardly no Isreali group was doing, playing hard psychedelic trance. It made them stand out right from the start. Then you get to " Classical Mushroom " and they infused some musicianship into their sound as they are trained instrumentalists. Again standing out from the rest. By the time you hit " BPEmpire ", you start to hear the infusion of vocals but not the band. Now they are turning more Isreali and broadening their fan base towards the younger ravers. Kids spend their parents money, not theirs. Now you get to " Vicious " and the group is a full band, again broadening their fan base to the folks who can't quite grasp the thought of going to a trance show but would go to a concert. And that's what is the difference here. Infected has brought themselves out of the classification of a trance producer and are know a legit band. They play all kinds of different shows and concerts to all kinds of people, not just trancers or ravers. It's the next logical step in getting the stigmata that trance music is just for kids on drugs who like techno. And the more commercial trance gets doesn't mean all the music will eventually suck. The underground is larger than it's ever been here in the U.S., and I don't see Infected at any of those gatherings. So weather your into spiritual awakenings or just like partying with people, Infected will bring the next generation of psytrancers from all walks of life, Bom

I think it was a little easier to swallow the argument that they are leading people to the goa/psy scene before their music became completely terrible and non-psychedelic/non-trancey. ;-)

i'm sure it could still happen, though. but i think psytrancers could sure wish for a better "representative" in the mainstream rave circuit...

Christopher Lawrence has been playing a bunch of psytrance at mainstream raves and massives, stuff like Astrix and other stuff off HOMmega, not exactly "cutting edge" psychedelic trance or anything, more mainstream clubby "psytrance" but still more psychedelic than what IM is doing.
Funny talking to people who say they don't like psytrance, then you see them flipping out to Christopher Lawrence at a club, just because he's a big name DJ.

yeah i know i came accross as harsh. i think too harsh. I apologize. I take back the first sentence tirade. I thought it was funny as hell, but it was too mean spirited.

Thing is i was upset. Me. Because i loved their early stuff so much - to _me_, what i heard last summer disturbed me.

And yes aXis, I am an artist. i have real releases. I have been involved as an electronic musician and a fully trained classical musician and music teacher (like erez) for my entire life.

I know what ur saing Rich - and of course i respect you bro, and actually agree with you with the concept of commercial trance brining new people into the fold to allow them to then find the deeper more psychedelic stuff and perhaps change lives - thats a good thing. But I wouldnt say their trajectory is brilliant more than it is calculated - however we all know that calculation is often a necessary component of making it into the top echelon of paid performers. They had a goal to make a good living at what they do, and they achieved it - that i believe is a noteworthy feat.

but lets call a spade a spade. If you're going to be a rock band, be a rock band. On that level, they are a sub-par rock band at best - faked emotion and monotone vocals, strained delivery, super canned keyboard work, mediocre drumming. Cringeworthy guitar licks. As a trance outfit - well, its not trance because trance is hypnotic and doens't employ every egregious arrangement pop structure cliche. So IMHO they do not succeed on any front anymore musically.

But much love to the Gathering and parts of Classical Mushroom. And if their presence can be the gateway to a new realm for others, then their presence is ultimately positive.

You said it Rob and I agree too. Knowing your background, your statement is on the money. But away with opinions, your last statement is the right statement.

I opened for em last year and they got tons of new people into psy. There was about 600 people there. I'm opening for em again this year and I expect over 1000 to show.

FYI - purists kill scenes or keep them tiny. Either learn that or be a dinosaur.
