Brahma is the arrow's goal,
It must be struck unswervingly."

first off, from what i've read, this is going to be a live pa and not just a dj set.. so hooray for that.
now, as far as who is going to open up for them that evening, i'm afraid that abhi pretty much nailed it. to my knowledge, Q100 (the local crap top 40 radio station) is going to be broadcasting from eleven50.. meaning that their cheesy-ass 'throw your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care' djs mike b & tracy saint george are going to be playing cheesy euro-crap and breaks (and as much as i hate to say it, club remixes of lame hiphop tracks). and, if you're lucky, DJ MIKE B MIGHT EVEN TAKE HIS SHIRT OFF FOR THE LADIES.. pure class!
on the other hand, there is no reason to necessarily be there super-early.. unless you have some masochistic tendencies that you can't seem to shake. from what i've heard, IM isn't going to be coming on until about 12:30 or so, which allows plenty of time to get there without having to worry about missing the performance, that is unless you are that desperate to see the afforementioned dj mike b show off his chest for the punters!
btw, there is a flash flyer up on the promoter's site... should i laugh or cry?

at least you can print the email pass on the page and get $10 vip admission if you're there before 11p... michael

I really feel for Infected, it looks like they are completly loosing control on how to present their music. |

infectious melodies.....deeeeep vocals........pumping bad ass grooves......oh man, where are my glowsticks and vicks inhalers when I need them????
haha
have fun yall--it should be fun-probably really strange...but fun.

i wrote a little blurb about it on another local ATL edm forum.. here is a link (with pictures) if you would like to check it out:
http://www.lunarmagazine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15659&start=15
anyway, here is the text re-printed:
first off, i had started the night with low expectations.. not because of IM (which i've been looking forward to ever since i had first heard them sometime around '99), but rather because of the way that they were being promoted. i didn't know what the crowd would be like, how people would react to the show, or if i would even make it through the door in the first place with a dress code supposedly in effect. on all accounts, i was most definitely impressed and my expectations exceeded.
i got there around 10:30 or so, and in spite of my casual attire (fluoro shirt and trail shoes) the guy at the door was very polite and mentioned that although they usually enforce their dress code, they were relaxing it a bit in lieu of it being a special event... in fact, all of the staff seemed pretty laid-back for the entirety of the evening. i managed to meet up with nearly all of the people i had spoken to previously who had been planning on making it out, and decided to do some independant exploring. the crowd that was there was a bit more diverse than i had expected, and there was a large contingent of israelis there to show their support for IM. the music outside (i caught a good bit of j-luv's set) was a nice low-key warm-up for the forthcoming energy that IM was soon to unleash on the crowd, and soon enough it was about time for the show to start. not a moment too soon, mike b finished-up his hardhouse noise and it was time for erez & amit to take the stage. what happened for the next hour and a half was quite possibly the best live performance i had ever had the opportunity to hear in this city. for one, this was an absolutely LIVE performance.. aside from the sequencing and audio from the VAIO laptop, duvdev handled mixdown and vocals on the soundboard, and erez was all over the keys for solos and breakdown melodies on the yamaha motif es7, as well as filter adjustments and soloing on the nord lead2. the sound was crisp and clear, the lighting was nice, and most importantly, the crowd was absolutely all over their set. i would have never guessed that IM would have been so well received, but that floor was absolutely packed with all sorts of people SERIOUSLY getting into it. granted, i know that most psytrancers would consider IM to be on the more accessable side of the genre, but the whole room was not only packed but also dancing itself into a frenzy. absolutely incredible!!! of all of the things that impressed me this evening, i would have to say that they crowd and the way that they embraced IM would have to be right at the top of the list.. just smiles as far as the eye could see.
sadly, the time came for the show to come to an end and turn the controls back over to mike b.. but not before a couple of minutes of the most thunderous applause that i think i've ever heard for an electronic artist. the crowd was just super appreciative, and had no qualms about letting IM know it. at that point however, mike b took the stage and started off playing some god-awful hardhouse version of 'there's a place in france where the naked ladies dance' and i kind of just stopped listening altogether.
many thanks to in like flynn for bringing these guys to town (and ensuring that e50 maintained a pleasant and friendly atmosphere), and also to the crowd for their enthusiasm in giving these guys one hell of a welcome to our city.. and of course, THANKS to INFECTED MUSHROOM for putting on one of if not the BEST LIVE PERFORMANCES i have ever heard!!
