Erez playing psytrance arpeggio's / synth lines live is cool to watch!

what erez explains is classic double tracking. but as mentioned it only works when you play the instrument live, or the synth patch has parameters that change slightly over a long period of time. if it'e exactly the same timing and sound doubling it will just make it mono.

Not true. This works with static synth sounds too, as long as oscillators are not synced to keypress. Makes a really wide sound.

do you speak about recording myslef playing somthing on the keyboard?
a lot of time the melody very fast so i can't do it...

You could try recording the MIDI of your performance, then bouncing it down to audio twice, once for each side of the stereo image. If you don't edit the MIDI it will be exactly like playing the same melody twice.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

The doubling technic is not new...
We can do it on vocals, for example!

We record different vocal sets. We choose the best one for main vocals.
The others, we can use them for chorus, backing vocals, etc.
Every singer make small diferences in the same song, everytime he sings it.
The same way on instruments.

On piano or keyboard performances, the best thing to keep the differences is do not quantize!

ofcourse erez didn't invent this method but he just said what he does for making the sound fatter. and beside it. they use it on basslines. i prefer most of the time regular mono bassline. but this pretty cool and i didn't hear anybody else do it on bassline.

That's something to try out!
Maybe keep the sub-bass mono and mid-bass stereo, then compress all together

Nice interview. Pretty complete.
