Hi people, I don't know if any of you came yesteray at Avalon to see IM, I came in a last moment decision when I realizes that I may not have an oppurtunity to see them for a long time. This is a review of my own personal experience.

The club itself was very hollow, fake and pretenious, just the way I hate this (what's the story with the hideous half-naked "sexy" dancers?! This by itself ruined half the vibe, good thing that they got rid off them later). The crowd from the other hand was very nice, just a bunch of people out there for Saturday night partying. However, they lacked the magic of the crowd from the last 2 real parties. Unfortunately the club was way too crowded, which made it impossible to dance freely and substantially damaged the experience.

I liked the IM performance. I just love Aizen and his strange chemistry with Duvdev, and they got me dancing pretty well, the music suited the atmosphere at the club. The peak for me was when they played a trance version of "I wish", I got completely crazy, and this killed my energy for the rest of the night. I could then only dance on-and-off with low intensity until the final collapse.

The great surprise of the evening was when I discovered a small chillout room which played house music. One of the many revelations I had following the TDC party was that house music (or at least progressive house, which is responsible for most of my little knowledge about house), can be really fu***ng amazing (yes yes, please don't laugh at me...). I finally had the oppurtinity to test this hypohesis. Boy, am I genius, this turned out to be the highlight of the night. At the beginning I was just chilling, getting into the mood, then I stepped to the small dancefloor which was only attended by a cute asian group. I got completely hypnotised, and only left when the DJ, probably in an attempt to get rid off me, switched to another style which I didn't really care for. I can't really compare house to psytrance since they appeal to different parts of me, house being less abstactly spiritual and more yummy-sexy. Now I just must go to a house party, so if anyone knows about a nice unpretencious house party in the next week, I'll be very thankful to know about.

To sum up, this was my first commercial party (damn it, last week was may first party in general), so I can't compare. For me it was just all right, not amazing but not bad. If it was less crowded there, it would help a lot. The part where I discovered the wonders of house made the whole night worth it.

I agree with you on that. House does the same thing for me. Psytrance is good to take you somewhere, with each song a pretaining to a certain color. House, while it has colors, is more about being groovy and sexy than anything. House was the first type of electronic music I was exposed to, and I still listen to it frequently today.

i went to see Sander Kleinsomething on friday night at crobar, was quite a fun experience.... if you go with the right person, you could even make fun of things you see all night long

but being serious again, the music was not bad - while not all tracks spoke to me, he definately had his moments.... much like a trance party does...

i personally really enjoy progressive music, alot of the new stuff has a really nice fat analog sound,
also in the progressive scene it seems that djing skills are more important to people than in a lot of cases with psy dj's.

just saw 'jonathon lisle' a new guy with bedrock and his mixes were insane, i would suggest checking him out if anyone ever gets the oppurtunity

Hey there...

newbie in the psy scene in nyc.. it's awesome so far. Did anyone else think that their dj set was waaay better than their live set?? I wasn't feeling the new stuff at all. It's definitely not psy anymore. The dj that came after them was amazing.. but I'm sorry to bring this up again.. being a girl at Avalon SUCKS! It's impossible to dance alone there and enjoy yourself for a long time because some A*& hole comes groping at you from behind.

Other than that, a fun night.. although I think I'd have had a more memorable experience at the PSI party instead.
