I have to agree with Kri, I dont understand why there is so much negativity in the american psy-scene, obviously people are trying to help what little scene we have here, It makes me kinda miss the old raver days of peace, love, unity and respect...

STOP LIVING IN THE PAST. and there was just as much negativity THEN as there is NOW. people always had their own opinions , its not like everyone was in love and happy back in the day. maybe your just thinking of the party atmosphere where everyone is fucked up on something and everyone is happy, well it is the same way these days. AND THIS WHOLE PEACE LOVE UNITY AND RESPECT.... NONSENSE ISS BULLSHIT. JUST LIVE YOUR LIFE AND BE A GOOD PERSON

This is a night to cut loose because this is a very different event being brought to a mainstream club like Axis, which has some of the best sound in the city imo.

As I understand it, this will be the *only* night to 'cut loose' as the city of Boston intends to demolish Axis and the surrounding clubs which supported events like this one in favor of restaurants and a concert arena with seats. Its a real shame as some of my first experiences hearing trance played at a club was at Axis (Chrome Thursdays)...I'm really sad to see it go.

However, I really feel that the promoter could have done a much better job picking an appropriate headliner for the final bash, its almost as if this Infected Mushroom party is happening 6 years too late...but its only now, when they're going to wreck the building that the club seems willing to give the psytrance a chance- they've got nothing to lose....very sad situation

Anybody ever heard of just having a good time ?

Are you guys not tired of the "my music is better than your music" bullshit!

At least the promoters want to introduce new people to the music.

who's to say people won't have a good time at this party? they usually do, Infected Mushroom puts on a good *show*. but that's what it is, an Infected Mushroom show, surrounded by DJ sets. it's not a way to introduce people to *the music*...it's a way to mislead them about it, or at worst scare them away from it.

The people who like Infected Mushroom now days dont even know what psytrance is. I dont see how you could scare them away, cause they are there to hear IM not psy trance.           Kri

excuse me I'm sorry.....

How in the world are they misleading people?

Look at the original post that was made from Vector. No where does it say this is a psychedelic event. It is just a musical event, i don't think they care so much about having it considered a psychedelic party. It's a party!!!
Nothing more nothing less.

So there has been no misleading here. Let's get that straight.

It's just a promotional page for this event, and as usual the same old tired comments about IM are resurfacing itself.

And I'm sure the next question is "then why are they promoting it on isratrance?"

not everyone here is sooooo "underground" like you guyz think you are. People come into isratrance to see what's going on. There are many people who are not so experienced in psytrance, that consider IM still psytrance. Whether it is or not, is another debate.

So the reason why it is getting promoted here, is because it gets exposure from both the "experienced" and "nonexperienced" listeners.

The one's who know what IM is about now a dayz, may not go, and the one's who have just heard of them, most likely will want to check them out.

Even the one's who know psytrance well, I would be willing to bet you, that you still will get many of those guyz to come out. First off, there isn't many "psychedelic" events over there, from what i gather. So it's a chance to let lose a little bit, and have some fun with it.

I saw that their was going to be an IM show in Miami about a month ago or so, and i thought to myself, why not? I'll go, i wanted to check out how people reacted to them here, because in miami there is little to no psy here.

Of course i had a lot of fun. Not my style of music anymore, not big into the vocals, but still was a lot of fun, and i couldnt believe how many people attended the event. So IM has a following, and they put on a fun show.

IMO that's what it's suppose to be about... having a good time. Not getting caught up in these elitist views of "that aint psytrance" "their misleading people"

this is an argument that was made up in your own head. I suggest you check out the original post by vector. And show me where they are misleading people.

^^^ Thank you Magox.

We saw nothing wrong in throwing the event up here for people to see whats going on. Nothing more.

And Lauryn is totally right. So sad to see these places go, especially for personal reasons because Axis and surrounding clubs were one of my first exposures to nightclubs, but as I heard it, this new "mall" with restaurants and a concert arena will also do club nights? Maybe I'm wrong though.

you're misleading people if the intent is to introduce people to "the music". obviously this is packaged as a psytrance event. it has nothing to do with being elitist. it has everything to do with portraying a confused genre that in trying to "reach out" to the mainstream in fact ends up reaching out to nobody at all.

and who said it was wrong to put the event on isratrance?

The USA has always had the toughest opinion
on music but the rest of the mainstream World has always looked at us to do so.A lot of overseas groups look at us only to make $$$ and laugh when they do.The Infected people are good at what they do which isn't what psytrance is about today or was it ever. They help the promoters get rich and they are known to be BootCamp style pop trance, well add a little hip hop and metal pop also. They're done with Goa just like Simon.
This isn't a bad thing what IM is doing but it does show how out of touch some current Goa heads are with the NOW!IM is still listed as psytrance so I can see why some people get upset and we are are an Israeli website.
Psytrance their is like Britney Spears here well for the top labels and artist not all. Did you know that IM's latest cd launch release party in SouthAfrica was calling the album that will make the American crossover.
You have at least two types of artist and productions. One is in it for the $$$ and the other is in it for sustainability of the movement. Its up to us to decide which one has pure GoaLove.

it's just that the divide between I.M. and psytrance becomes more and more awkward with every party...
boston sees plenty of club nights, i don't see why this is their chance to cut loose at last

brandon, no disrespect intended, but i do find your comments somewhat ironic coming from someone who has recently djed alongside YAHEL, Scot Project, GMS, et al.

i don't really understand the controversy here... it's a party at a noteworthy club in boston with Infected Mushroom and a couple of psytrance djs. BIG F@#$&*g DEAL.

and i know plenty of people who've gotten turned on to psytrance through infected mushroom's more recent output. like it or not, IM is still one of the very few big name acts that people outside of the scene have actually heard of... i guess that's what gets you people riled up more than anything.

good luck to the promoters, i know putting on events in boston is a herculean task with the draconian nightlife laws on the books. and i know the SB crew will have that place looking spectacular...

point is infected mushroom is a metal duo. i just dont understand why they are playing at a nice psy party. but i know this much, all involved will make a shit load of money. business as usual. i mean as soon as i get alot of money ill defenetly book them to play.

ironic, yes, but i think i am pretty well educated on the subject because of the first-hand experience i've had working with these artists and at these parties... i would like to help change things for the better. and i'm quite sure no-one else here would turn down the opportunity to play at the aforementioned parties. Yahel and Scot Project was never advertised as a trance party, though it did end up on this forum, and G.M.S. is a legitimate act still with actual crossover appeal.

organizers have much more control over the direction of the scene than dj's do. in this case as it usually is, money is the motivating factor.

i don't think anyone here defending I.M. has ever seen them play in the last 2 years...it will be a show, not a party!

also it's ironic that many of the people defending I.M. here are involved with darkpsy or more underground parties which scoff at such commercialism.

go figure. at the end of the day, it's more about backing up individual and friends' interests.

i'm jumping off this one though...never meant to take it this far. all involved can now go back to hyping things up
