Discovery, Oscar, Vanguard maybe for VST's

Nord, Korg, Virus, Waldorf for Hardware

and btw it's a matter of the right effects as well(Chorus, Phaser, Reverb) add the right ammount for the right sound.

Give IZotope Trash a try.
It is not a synth anyway, it is a multi
distortion plugin (multiband dist., pre compressing, pre- post filter, lots of amp.
simulation), and you can use it on anything.

Try it with crashes or snares, or any synth, drums, it is really phatt.
