Being a cityslicker and stumbling apon a psy-party while holidaying in Goa. What a feeling of discovery! Its like you find a life that you never knew existed.
Dont know if that happens anymore though. Trance is a 24/7 thing there now. Even the cafes in the heart of tourist areas play psy... its more of trying to escape it. It's so in-your-face that its actually less appealing. Less magical.
But its still Goa The spirit is in the land.
BTW ... I saw bits of the Mahabharat play out in my head on a dancefloor! It's hard to explain how but has anyone ever felt the same ? Something disturbingly psychedelic about it all. |

theres no different "connection". Indians are as related to trance as the Isreali's or Japs are. |

sometime in the late 60`s the hippies got to india , smoked pot , dropped lsd and decided it was all very trippy , the goa trance happened a couple decades or so later .. blablabla .. its only very very recently that india has started to contribute .. in terms of music at least ..
i personally feel that the whole `bom shiva baba` is past its shelf life , its just drugs and music .. dunno .. ppl take too much acid and put silly dimentions to this scene.(with hindu mythology , relegion)
classic example of `overeastimating our subculture` as someone once said
there u go

Just as Krell put it, but the further question is that is psytrance linked to spirituality solely because it was based in Goa, or is it a "spiritual" music in itself naturally..But to be optimistic I'd think the latter, but again many skeptics involved in this scene can be ignorant to any spirituality in connection to music. Dancing as a spiritual practice goes back to ancient times in almost all cultures (another connection), and as I've heard somewhere (possibly on this forum or not, i forget), a good way to describe what this whole thing is about is simply "Ancient ways, modern means." |

if the hippies had travelled to some other beautiful place like egypt with a vast cultural heritage, maybe we wouldve all wanted to go to alexandria... and the whole scene wouldve been related to mybe pahroas and their gods!!! just that everything fell into place in india... guess thats the connection...
on a different note how trippy would it be to have a party near one of those pyramids...

hehehe, you mean the so called world with all its poverty, aids, deforestation, global warming, unesessary wars, etc? Hey maybe the Yogis took a vacation, and its up to you, me and everyone else in this planet to take some responsability and positive action.

I don't think Indias beauty is the reason why the Goa scene got started there, that most likely is just an added benefit. Because who are we kidding, every part of the world has its own unique beauty and charm.
I think the connection of trance with India has more to do with India's mystical traditions creating a great setting and source of inspiration for modern electronic music oriented hippies.
Anyways, despite this whole scene got started in (:(:( > > INDIA < < ):):) the mods from Isratrance not only killed the India section but even had the nerve to tell them that it was because THEY (the indians) failed and so advised them to rethink their attitudes and their role in >>OUR<< beloved psy scene. Yeah please take good note of that as you march out Isratrance you shameful bunch.
Hey perhaps its the Isratrance team the ones who actually failed at coping with a true global forum that can sustain countries as unique, "crazy" , large and >>psychedelic<< as India, ummm where GOA got started. Yeah blame your local oriented rules, or your mama if you want, but don't blame and entire culture as if they failed with YOUR scene, otherwise the ones who need to rethink their attitude towards the psy scene are not the Indians.
But then again this is the ISRAELtrance forum, so can't bitch to much. Yeah obviously theh would have never killed the Israel section no matter what. But India where it all began?
You bastards!!! heheheh |

Apsolutely uncalled for aluxe! Why and for what reason are you trying to push through this ego centric high handed bull huh? So what if our forum got canned , and so what if we were issued warnings by the moderator ,doesnt take anything away from the fact that the original scene first and foremost originated here and no fact no little fiasco on the 'Internet' can discount that fact. And who's blaming anybody here anyway ? We were just discussing the already apparent connection between india and trance ?? Get it??
It would have been better if you ended the post with your rant by replying to person who you quoted , the rest im afraid was apsolut bollux.

Perhaps you midsunderstood me or didn't quite get some of my sarcasm ("you shameful bunch!"), because what you are saying is part of the point I was trying to make (I am supporting India on this). You see I find it completely ironic that this forum which represents the psy scene would close the section of the country where it all started on the first place. But I respect that, you know its their rules, whatever. But the mods telling the Indians its THEY who failed and need to rethink their attitudes in the psy scene seems quite offending to the Indian bros when its quite possible that it was actually the Israteam who failed at coping with a section for a country as large and unique as India. Am I wrong in pointing this out? The messege from the mods I am refferring to is at the top of the closed Indian section.

OK I admit this may be offtopic. It's just that while everyone points out how much our scene is connected to India I can't help but be reminded that the team just now closed the India section.

Yeah I don't think you understood me 100%, I get the impression you actually thought I was dissing India for the fact they closed the Indian section. Hehehe, imagine what an idiot that would make me, but not at all bro. And you know the last part of my message wasn't even really directed at who I was quoting, maybe that caused the confusion.

Thank you for the support Aluxe.
Honestly, when the idea of locking the India section was brought up I was the first one to say go ahead. I really thought it would bring about a change because of the over dependance of the India scene on isratrance. And especially since the cops had figured that out and we're using it to track down outdoor gigs. That would have been a valid reason.
Then out came the allegations. The bullshit 'I'm greater than thou'. India has failed. The sad thing is that its like being held at gunpoint. We might have failed in the eyes of some, but if we say its isra that failed then whoom, "delete", there goes our section.
Heck, the India section may have been a mess but I seen no other where deep discussions have been shared for pages and pages. More talk on the understanding of the thoughts we have shared instead of just promoting parties and going yeah yeah yeah.
But its apparent that there is no room for change here. Everyones so comfortable with the present flow that when a bunch of crazy Indians come to shake thigs up a bit, we have a whole bunch of offended yuppies.
The time had come for the India section to be locked, but the reasons given showed that it was done for absolutely the wrong ones. I may be wrong but I got a vibe that this was something pre-meditated. Some people were just waiting for a slipup.
Its not even a fight worth fighting because its absolutely one sided. If they really wanted to be so democratic they'd let us vote on whether WE want it open. Not by a bunch of members who have never even been to India longer than a week, let alone know how a culture with 1 billion people who are in each others faces everyday manage to live harmoniously.
With that being said... India is an anomaly. We find harmony in chaos. Something that's very much needed today. And its why psy exists so naturally in a populus like India but would be so hard to be understood in one like China.
I've lived in the States for over 4 years now. Jumped into the culture wholeheartedly (even joined a fraternity) ... and as an American its really hard to understand how it works. I get baffled at how lax our culture is. On one side in the west everything has to be accounted for... I've even seen kids pay their parents rent when they go back home. Completely systematic and going with the flow. Then you go back to India and everyone wants to be in your face, everyone wants to be part of your business, and they're willing to make their business yours. People HAVE to survive in symbiosis. So what you might find offensive is probably not from the Indian perspective.
Its a big world man. The internet's made it smaller but it can never explain the workings of another culture. Please, open up the India section and let it run naturally. This scene has never been about exclusion or fear of change. |

Yes. The final straw was being awaited. But it was out of fed-up'edness more than a conspiracy. Closing down the India section was something that was being considered for a while but one way or the other we managed to stall it in some way. I think it was with the sudden influx of new members created- one bunch of moondust supporters, and another bunch of disbelievers- that things got out of hand. Also, one doesn't HAVE TO post a comment for everything. Say it if you have something solid to say. Otherwise just let it go. It's okay to nod to yourself and move on. Anyway, so there were too many unnecessary posts, retarded arguments, personal info made public and general stupidity.
Silver linings be found, I am so relieved we dont have to moderate a Moondust reviews thread That would be seriously exhausting!! If everyone calms down for a while, and if we are able to tackle negativity that might arise with tact and maturity, I am sure things will sort out for the better. I understand that isra has been 'home' for so long, and its not easy to get everyone to switch to another forum, which is why I feel it is imperative to rethink attitudes and ensure relevance in your posts in all sections.
P.S.- I'm not sure this topic should have strayed from its original intent, but since the discussion has begun, and we dont really have any unlocked threads left within the forum to talk about it... india & (isra)trance? I can only please one person per day. Today's not your day. Tomorrrow isn't looking good either. |
