These handheld pieces are mostly created by a new direct-metal printing technique, which produces a composite steel-bronze metal with a rich texture. Some designs are new for this technology, while others are old favorites.

made by direct-metal printing: there's a machine that takes a CAD file specifying a 3D object, and builds the object, physically, as metal. If this sounds like science fiction to you, well it might.
