SuperSK.
I suggest you to try other DAW´s (just in case you have not tried them), compare and choose before going for one.
Personally I think there are better DAW´s on the market at the moment than Sonar, but it´s just a matter of taste really.

not really at the moment - but i think if you know where to find anything it is for sure a DAW with a fast workflow (i guess)
there are also really many interesting tools which might be very usefull
i've maneged to create my first melody
theres a piano roll & a step sequencer like fruity loops.. but once i've opened a vst synth and closed it - i don't know how to open it again??? |

why? do cakewalk provide you gig management? do they give you earing training and musical knoledge "matrix" input?
serisously... sonar is a solid daw but is mostly used to mastering bands
it have quality, its a good daw, it can do everything the others do
but you need to understand this: for electronic music the usual better flow is archieved with Pattern sistem of production, because you work with loops most of the time and not pré-recorded sequences, you need to experiment, and change all the time the track and mix, and because of this ableton live is becoming the main choice on DJ producers from all the world, not only because of the live performance, but also because it works with patterns
other option you have is Flstudio wich you dont need to be afraid to use, today is a pretty damn good daw, wich offer you excelent audio quality and still have pattern legacy mode wich is for me the best way of producing trance
but.. if you are happy making music on X1, go ahead, keep it, you can produce high quality audio with anything, even with reason 5
but never... never belive that a daw is the key to becoming a great producer, to become a great producer you need to be really good, have lucky in your carreer, know the right people and give the rights steps, wich have nothing to do with the choice you make on daw´s |
