i dont really know about expensive speakerstands, you can build your own, mine are made from four pieces of MDF, on top a big foam block (which i found on the street) works perfect...
important for the Behringers is that they have some room in the back, otherwise they start banging, which you don't want, personally i like these little babies:

Zebra-N,
Foam isn't adviced as a monitor resting-coushion - Use something much stiffer, this lowers vibrations transfer to the speaker and from it.
try checking out Auralex MoPads.

Man! I have same problem, but i found that VERY imortant variable height.
Your ear MUST be on the same height as tweeter. It's VERY VERY imortant.
What you think? |

The stands themselves are not that special, or more exact to say not the stands make the sound better.
What makes the sound better is the fact that when using the stands one must put his speakers at least 50cm away from the wall and that actually what makes the difference.
See, the worst place for speakers is to sit too close to the wall, so that is why the stands actually help with better sound

fu hsi,
if we're into what makes them sound better - then it's for sure the stands, the placement, and your room acoustics. (and of course how well the monitors were built).
ZebraN, I have 30cm^3 cubes of foam - still, it's bad - and I'll change it.

You must put your speakers at least 2 meters from each other and away from the walls. and must do a triagle betweet speakers and you! so to have full of stereo listening. also you much check the reverb of the room etc.

they are very important to stop vibrations from the woofers from reaching the floor/tabletop/closet. Because of that, speaker stands are especially important against standing basses... The second advantage is that u won't bother the neighbours living under u anymore |

I received my Auralex Pads today. As expected the sound is somehow "dryer" now. I like them.

I have those BS 3000 monitor stands and i like them. I think they'll provide a good place for your monitors.
A cheaper and maybe even better solution would be to build your own hollow column-stands from wood and fill those with sand. But this means work (yikes), and they will be less flexible in that it's harder to adjust their height. |
