The following hasn't been getting much mainstream press coverage - it's not on Yahoo or BBC news, and I'm guessing Fox isn't covering it in the USA - so I'm going to risk the ire of the Isramods and post it here Please forgive me if this is old news to you - I don't know exactly when this happened as I couldn't find a date on the site - but it seems important and some here might not know.

US Representative Dennis Kucinich has moved on the House floor to initiate impeachment proceedings against Vice-President Richard Cheney.

It's a step in the right direction, but probably won't mean anything in the long run.

It happened two days ago. Go Kucinich!!

It wouldn't be on Fox or CNN, as they claim to be central, but are quite on the right. Sometimes ridiculously so. I'm sure this was mentioned on The Daily Show or Colbert Report.

I found it online on a rather nice and spot on (yet sometimes hilariously juvenile) news site: http://www.digg.com/politics/Articles_of_impeachment_for_Cheney_being_read_NOW_in_congress

Check out some of the comments.

Hurry up before the Isramods delete this. (Like they should)

He's been pushing for (president)Cheney's impeachment for sometime but I'm afraid it will have little effect. At the same time, miracles do happen. One of Bush's vetos was overturned for the first time since he's been in office. Put a smile on my face to hear it.....yeah, like psy-trance!           "It's ALL about the clickety-clack!!!!"-Neuronympho

Too bad we'll have another election ( less than 365 days left!!!) before impeachment could ever go all the way through - and it would make us look like even more of a farce in the world's eyes.

It would be nice, but not smart in the long run.

It's been put into committee, which means... um... limbo.

He'll be out of office soon anyways.

isn't it too late? what good is impeachment if they have already succeeded?

as a citizen, i feel the war is not 'real' enough to people for serious changes to happen. most peoples contact with the war is through the media (who don't seem to give it much attention lately..). only those families with active duty family members are directly affected. until the draft comes back and every family is feeling the effects of being at war, i dont think anything will change really. business as usual... out of sight out of mind. sad truth if you ask me.

as much as i'd love to see cheney impeached and tried, what are the chances of it happening. bush will never let things get that far, and he's doing all he can to cover his administrations ass. how will they be brought to justice if they give themselves immunity for their crimes??

democrats are just as bad i think, what exactly have they done concretely to changes things? my vote doesn't feel like it was fulfilled at all. country need much, much change. and i don't think the next election is going to bring change unfortunately.

not to mention our crumbling freedoms.. that's for another topic

Scrap the whole federal government, I say. The states are way too diverse to be one monolith....i mean, here in massachusetts we don't really want the same things as people in mississippi. At most we should have a loose affiliation like the EU, with all the real power at the state and local levels. It is becomming quite evident that democracy has a much smaller carrying capacity than what was originally assumed

Oh, and to cut costs, I feel that we no longer need the marines, army, or navy. I think we'd be fine with just the coast guard and half of the airforce. that is, of course, if we finally take down that evil and elusive terrorist organization known as.....the CIA!

Vector for president, 2008!
