Everybody is an artist this days, but they fail at the first step and most of them end up with making really crap music.
What you should do is listen some music, and don't listen youtube videos or ripped mp3 tracks, listen to some original cds or if u dont have the money for them, try to find a really good free release in WAV.

After that try to remake the same sounds from the tracks.

yes, regardless of what style or genre of music you are making I would recommend to imitate at the beginning. Then once you can walk move on to expressing yourself uniquely. Its like how babies learn to talk. first imitate, then push boundaries.           --

Make what you like, do not label it dark, full on, or anything whatsoever, just make what you really like, what you are into, what really knocks your socks off. If your production skills are up to par, I am sure the end result will be awesome!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

A lot of guys throwing a lot of words but no real help.

Here are some ideas for "dark" psytrance sounds:

- frequency modulation: LFO / ENV (harsh leads, chirps, bubblers, slides, swirls, etc).
- pulsewidth modulation: PWM (aggressive leads)
- low octave (drones, fx, ambiances)
- bit reduction (percussion, fx, leads, etc)
- noise processing (leads, fx, ambiences, etc)
- glitch & stutter (breaks, fills, special processing, etc)
- dense obscure scoundscapes (ej. detuned pads, ambience noise, cinematic, etc)
- HP / BP filter modulation leads (Lfo>Filter and resonance + distortion)
- formant / vowel filters (vocal sounds, angry monk singing, gremlins, etc)
- tempo automation (speeding up / down track)
- harsh distorted percussion / synth arrangement (crazy agressive grooves)
- horror movie samples (screams, laughs, dogs barking, dialogues, monologues, suffering noises, etc)
- reversed samples (speech, accoustic instruments, etc)
- intense rising tones + modulations (risers, build ups, up/down filters, lfo to filter / pitch / etc).
- crazy fx (noises, reverses, blasts, wooshes, braking glass fx, etc)

That should get you started. Most of them are common elements of EDM but in dark psy they are abused.

Sorry bro I don't make darkpsy and there are no genre specific plugins. You need to learn to use a synth and learn how common noises are made.

Get Discovery, albino and vanguard... use db glitch wisely, learn every module and learn to program you sequences.
