Thank you all very much! It it such a pleasure to be talking to you folks and the advice you are giving me shows how caring people can be, it is trully wonderful you guys are opening your hands and giving your real world knowledge to beginners like me. It makes me feel this is the place where I belong, and regardless music is such a passion, I completely was a reclusive for atleast four years and produced music all day. - I got really deep into all sorts of genres and I feel I can produce any genre i put my mind too.

-I take Mubali's and Ascensions advice to heart.. Ascension seems willing to assist my musical career and for that I am very thankful. When and if in time I hope to return the favor!!

Alas, I present another consideration.. too bad the psy scene hasnt much money into it.. What we need is college grads and wealthy people to get involved somehow. I have some contacts when I went to Salve Regina University in R.I. (mansion university i call it).. it put a whole in my pocket but i hope the contacts their will one day proove worthwhile.. After I complete and Undergrad degree, rather While, I will pursue the associates degree from full sail ASAP. therefore I will have plenty to fall back upon, still more philosophy and physics entice me further,, especially quantum physics (aside as a hobby seemingly for alot of psy artist it seems) but I wouldnt mind learning all there is to know about that in grad school environment,, * this is long term plan*.

I will keep this rambling short, Idont want too many topics co-mingling from my main objective which is to get some solid gigs under my belt and sort of document it with my hand held camera a little at quite moments* for memory sakes and learning           http://www.mystic-vibes.com

I would love to go full blown touring and what not after I learn a ridicolous amount of information about the music business.

Other than the really basic common sense stuff, 90% of what you can learn about the music industry barely applies to the psy scene in the U.S.

Put all of your energy into making music and getting people to listen to it and the rest will follow.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

Like mubali said, you should try going to some local events and meet the crowd, they're a lovely bunch of folk! Touch Samadhi festival is coming up here in September in Asheville and I would HIGHLY reccomend going to that, you'll meet loads of artists and just all around cool people that could get your foot in the door at least. Maybe, make some demo cd's and hand them out with your contact info. I'm in Knoxville as well, theirs a handful of people that would love to hear you play i'm sure. Have you tried getting in contact with the woman that runs World Grotto? They seem to be delving quite a bit into the electronic music lately. I know Jan Muller is playin there this coming friday night along with a couple good local Dj's, and I just went to hear Richard Devine play there a couple weekends ago. Just make a presence, the rest will fall into place I'm sure!           http://soundcloud.com/tactile-one

The only way traveling full time works for me is to completely have very little overhead. Recently, I took time away from traveling and touring a lot to be normal and get a job. Turns out that I honestly hated it and the call of the road came to me again. I have found a situation outside of the country where I found an affordable place to live and I can fly around Europe playing shows and still have my home base at least for a while.
This is not easy to do in the US. For the most part the scene in the US cannot financially fully support someone who just lives from performing. However, that being said unless you have a job that allows you to either telecommute or is a contract based employment where you're doing web development or something like that, you're not gonna be able to do too much traveling either.
My situation degraded to not being able to support myself with my job due to lack of hours and not having the proper education to get one that would support myself and have some flexibility to go and perform relatively far away. My personal advice is that if you can get a degree in something, ANYTHING, get it. You'll be surprised how even trying to get a simple receptionist job, the employers will overlook field experience for a degree. Such has become the way of the world. Keep going for that degree in sound design for video games, that's a good market that can open a lot of doors for you.

The most important thing is to keep doing what you're doing and keep making music and putting it out there. People will eventually get in touch with you based upon the merit of your music, not because some manager is forcing your music down their throat.

Quite possibly the best advice I have ever heard on the subject

I fully plan on doing the normal/boring undergrad/grad degree along with some associate degrees so i believe i will be ok to go there.

I know what you mean by the call however and its much more exciting than anything else ive come come doing the whole normal college degree and getting a job via networking though the pay doesnt sound bad.

I need some people in similar route as me.. we get three or four producer guys going to college.. then getting a 50 k year job for a few years saving all our money.. buy a decked out castle in the woods where we then have no worries going broke living on streets... then say fuck you to the man get out 800 thousand for house/ then create a sucessful label and perform..

idea came to me via college housing... 4 students pay 16 k for one semester with that lute its possible to rent a mansion with boats on lake..

seems intelligent to me           http://www.mystic-vibes.com
