Labels, Artists, & Fans of Trance...
www.mp3sale.ru is an illegal MP3 sale site potentially selling YOUR music as digital downloads and not paying you a cent for it!
I know because I recently discovered my label's music on it.
Sites like this kill our music just as much as peer-to-peer trading networks, but even worse they make money doing it and give NOTHING to the artists and labels.
If you are a label or artist, go search the site for your material. If it's there, send them a Cease & Desist notice. Report them to any relevant services.
If you're a fan of trance music, don't buy anything from them, even though it's cheap. And help spread the word by posting to forums, etc.

i found another site that seems to have free mp3 downloads. I cant read russian but the fact that it has a file size next to the release from the label i represent makes me think so.
the fuckers even put "(c) *websitename*" on the album cover art!!!! how dare they claim copywrite of the image?!?!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they fucking stole it!!!!!!!
File sharing/mp3 copying is never going to go away. it is 100% up to the listener to do the right thing and support the labels he/she likes, by buying their music and refusing to download it.
i think a thread naming the sites is a bad idea. All it will be used for is for people who think the world owes them free music checking it for where to go to download music.
sorry for my swearing.

Yeah this is a big problem I think, there are several Russian spoken websites @ US hosting providers offering a lot of electronic music for download. Most downloads are hosted on "filesend" servers as well. Those websites don't even bother if you email them & point out that they host copyrighted material. Well I opened a thread some time ago about "is 2007 the year the cd will die" and it gets closer I think.
Keep on sharing and the labels will die soon!

good point but if there is something like place you can have those sites listed this can help the labels tracking and taking the needed legal actions .. it's one magical circle at the end of the day

While it may be true that file-sharing is never going to go away, IMO this is a whole other level though - this isn't file-sharing, this is people actually charging money and profiteering from the work of others. A far more serious crime...
Since this is no legal grayzone at all and because they must have some kind of payment system in place it shouldn't be so hard to go after them... I guess someone just has to have the time and dedication to do it...

The labels affected should pay a hacker to destoy the illegal websites.
It'd be alot easier than asking them to 'cease and desist'

The scary thing is that these illegal sites often do a better job promoting new releases than the labels do... check google and see for yourself; many of the links to new releases will lead to such sites.
Part of this is the failure of the psytrance industry to fully embrace "web 2.0" design strategies; everything is pretty much as it was in 2003 or so. This forum is a good example, and so are most label home pages (i.e. flat, static content). Many of the pirate sites are out-of-the-box CMS solutions which instantly offer basic interactivity and at least a little SEO juice. Of course, as long as the labels and shops go on without offering up free content for download, the illegal sites will win out, traffic-wise anyhow.
Incidentally, the demand for pirated music seems to drive a lot of traffic to my own web site. People go googling for "mp3" or "torrent" and an artist name and end up on my site. I wonder if they are disappointed to find that I only offer free and legal downloads? My guess is that some simply don't know the difference...
