mmm definately an open minded and mature suggestion for someone who wears headphones..

Shut The Fuck Up! Seriously.

I don't go to a party to hear ANY ARTIST drop tracks from 10 years ago, and anybody who does clearly missed the musical innovation at the door. That is not to say that it is bad to listen to classic music, I still listen to a lot of older trance. But in the party setting, it's all about the latest and greatest music ONLY. Anything else and you're being ripped off.

In terms of Dark, I admit to not being a big fan of the music. So rather than come up with some concocted uneducated Dark lineup on my own, why wouldn't I just leave it to the fans of this music to decide? But to clarify, I know several local DJ's personally who play awesome night time psytrance (which isn't necessarily dark emotionally - so fuck that distinction too). I might not know the headliners of this style, but I certainty know locals who play the style as good or better than any of them I'm sure.

Stop with your bullshit inferences. And stop this elitist bullshit where you act as you must be an expert on ALL styles of music. Sorry, I have my favorite styles that I stick to. I'll sure listen and dance to other stuff, I just don't keep up on the style/scene/big artists.

In short, get over your bad self.

I dont think youre being ripped off if a dj drops older tracks, wtf kind of attitude is that? The djs need to throw down good music no cheesy shit, thats whats important. Listen to some old tracks they will blow your fuckin mind. i think its kind of lame to go to a party expecting only to hear new music and nothing else.

Perhaps an old track or a new version of an old track thrown in there for spice and flavor. But overall, I shouldn't be hearing consecutive songs in sets that are older than 3 years old. Preferably, the majority of the music was released (or created) in the past year or two.

As I said, I do listen to older music in my own time, and I know there are some great older tracks. You have to realize that this is electronic music. As time has progressed, the electronics and software they use to produce the music changes. This is why even though there are GREAT old tracks, in terms of pure technical prowess (bass deepness, clarity, etc.) they can't compare to new stuff. Of course this is why many artists will revisit their old classic tracks and make new versions over time. They still want to drop them in sets, but they don't sound right next to all the new stuff. Even stuff I was playing in sets 2 years ago is now virtually unplayable on most occasions in comparison to the other stuff I play. Keep in mind, this is all based on technical prowess; artistry is of course another matter entirely, which I won't get into. And I definitely don't want to get into a "cheezey" argument with you.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN

omg -.that is one of that big reasons why the dj has lost any big interest to me . At least I dont have any of that new in mind,i am very sorry for honesty.I think new tracks can each one download and it is nothing that special really not..This is not a big art of style.
Last year in Berlin i was suprised after my life performance on a truck at fuckparade we landad on a goa wher a dj trhow sheyba african trance express and the golden killer oldskool tunes amongs golden psycedelic that was brand new and that was unique and a party like in the best times.
I will never forget this goa party ,well the fuckparade too hehe .
A good dj should play good tunes and not only new ones.

that view that new music is better simply because technology has improved is bullshit. there are a LOT of older tunes that can be mixed very well with newer stuff. i think you should spend some time backtracking thru psy and goa and check out some of technical and artistic masterpieces of the past. id like to see you listen to some of the music made by the late great Zolod and then come back here and argue that older tracks can never be better than new tracks.

More than enough new music comes out ALL THE TIME if you are looking. Plus if you talk to artists themselves you can often find unreleased music.

With the shear mass of new music that's available, nobody needs to be playing a lot of old music to find good music of any vibe or style. I mean that there is more than enough GOOD new music in any vibe or style you can think of, alongside all the bad music of course. I'm not saying that every new track that comes out is good. Nor am I saying that playing the top 10 tracks all the time is the way to go. With the mass volume of different music in different styles that comes out all the time, it's easy to be individual and find your own style and vibe.

And like I said, dropping an old track or two here and there is fine. But if you're hearing 2 hours straight of music made before 2004 at a party, then the DJ needs to get some new music.           http://www.soundcloud.com/djKAHN
