I am bringing up Man With No Name as an example not only because his music has been a big inspiration to me, but because he had a huge impact on the "underground" parts of the scene, as well as the more commercial side of EDM (Paul Oankenfold was playing his music left right and centre in the '90s) and also because he never changed his style up to his last album Interstate Highway in 2003 and because he plays only this kind of music still and was one of the biggest sets at Ozora 2011 (according to others as I did nto attend).

So your feeling on this track:

What with production having advanced heaps in terms of editing and polishing, do you think them raw simple riffs would have an impact in the scene today?
Would you buy/bother to download this music?
Do you think if Martin released his first tunes today, would get gigs, or to be more realistic, would you want to hear this kind of music at festivals today?
Would you prefer to listen to this kind of music to the generic full on that gets played at parties/festivals?

No right or wrong answers, just a little research on this site to hear people's opinions.

Peace out.

always been a fan of his production but imo as it is,it sound too much dated to be a success today.
if it s possible to capture the same spirit but sounding modern and cutting edge that would work better i guess (and thats not today full on , it don't capture goa spirit and energy to me )

not one of my favorite tracks of his, but imo it would definitely work, its got the signature mwnn drive with enough interesting bits winding over the bassline and a nice melody (i wouldnt call it more than that, but definitely not less).

yesterday i had a very good example of what i dont like in full on - i had 4 straight full on sets one after the other - lucas, xerox & illumation (only with their older material), tikal and some local dj.

lucas's set was brilliant, x&i were pretty good, tikal was way off for me and so was the local dj.

what i'm trying to say here is that fullon can work (for me), as long as you keep it interesting, cut the cheese and not rely solely on the bassline to keep interest (unless its a damn good bassline with plenty of variations).

The answer is no for the same reason that Elvis Presley and The Beatles music wouldnt work out in our days because the people are different, the trends are different and preety much everything is different.

The point is that BACK THEN this track and this style worked out and it will continue to work for all those people that lived these years and experienced this music on the dancefloors.

Because music is not just the sounds but also the memories, experiences and feelings a person had when listening to this music back in those days.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I think Filteria does a pretty good job on taking this oldschool style to a more modern level..

maybe you would folow him but it will never be as successeful as back in the day, DETOX is spot on imo.

new sound that get success is a lot about using old successfull tricks and re use them in a way to make them sound new (dubstep could be a example but it s used in all style of music)

I don't think i would buy/download it in a normal state of mind, but in an altered one i would jump to it and i think thats the point, this is partie music, sure u can listen to it at home, for an older guy like me it works, with past memories and stuff. For the new listener u need to create new memories, and that's at parties/festivals. If people enjoyed it they will get it. Like u said, it seemed to work at Ozora, maybe new fans

I experienced this music on the dance floor and like the track, but would not bother downloading or buying it, as I have suitcases full of music from this day and age. The track certainly brings back memories.

Would I prefer this music over Etnica or Skazi? Any day

Ok serious now, I would prefer this kind of music over a lot of the crap that gets played on parties nowadays... but I am not mentioning names, I think I done enough trashing lately ...

Honestly, if he posted this track in this forum, he might get good comments on composition, but not on production. It would probably go something like : Heyyy, great track, but you need to get your kbbb in order, and so on and so forth...
So not even for memories sake, but... I really do have a lot of old sound and it wouldn't even surprise me one bit if I found exactly this track in there.

One thing this track did do is made me look at some of those suitcases of old sound, I think I should digitize some mixes from back in the day and post them on soundcloud and in here, I just need to find the time...
