hey. I've never been to show with an IDM artist playing. I wonder how the shows are. Do people sit down and listen, stand, dance? of course there will be a variation but still I wonder what the majority does. is there a connection between the crowd like in psytrance acts?
generally IDM artists dont come to the country I live, there was plaid, but I missed it. There may be some coming for the summer and I'd really like to go. I just would like to get a sense of what to expect.
thanks.

Hi Abatwa, how are you!
I've seen Plaid live at the Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall in '98 and I had a very comfy seat. But few years after I've checked Manitoba in a smoky little pub in Camden Town and I was standing like others. But in both situations we were concentrating in listening to music, no dance. That's way I think IDM would fit perfectly even in chill-out rooms in trance parties. Isn't psychedelia mind expanding?

I've been at an Aphex Twin gig in my hometown about 3 years ago...
Few ppl danced, most of them stood there listening, cause the event was advertised as chill out
Aphex was urging ppl to dance, and it looked quite dissapointing that one of the biggest halls (Apothiki, Mylos) in my town was full of ppl (not connecting like in psytrance acts -as far as clothing is concerned) that just stood there...
One of the best music shows I've been to... but then I'm a Aphex Twin fan...

heya nova, all's fine
thx's to you two for sharing the experiences. I guess plaid and aphex would be two of the artists I'd like to see perform. I find some idm songs to be very emotional and very deep, so its all good to sit, relax and close your eyes and feel the music.
of course there are mahy exeptions like richard d james's "come to daddy". that song is one hell of a song and could be hard to sit and relax with that one
