Why not ? Ultimae records for example has lots of amazing artists like AES DANA, SOLAR FIELDS, ASURA, CBL, CELL and more. I think is about time for an ambient-downtempo trance event, no?

IDM also is a amazing music style that you can rarely can listen in Greece. Is anyone gonna make a start??
Spectraliquid guys are the only one that make few events based in IDM style, other styles also, and i ve been to 2 of them and the music was great. I think is about time to move on and meet new styles that totally worthed to listen.
What is your opinion about ?

The sound was really shite though

Nurbs mate, there have been some tries from various promoters, either having a second 'chill-out' room or either having ambient/downtempo/chillout music playing for the whole night, both cases didnt have a great turnout from the people which is very dissapointing and therefore very risky to organise such a thing...

that is true and this is the reason that we dont have any ambient-chill out party here           ~.~ Psy party means Aliens World ~,~

The island of fire in lemnos was a great opportunity to listen so many chill out artists! In every party should be a chill out room something that here in greece never happens....usually its a xiliki artist to make people leave the place instead of chilling out for a couple of hours before they go to sleep!!I think its a great idea to have chill out events maybe not on their own but together with other artists as an add on at least at the beginning to see how things go....
Ultimae is great also dakini artists are amazing but you have to bring them from japan which unfortunately costs loads of money which i think are worth every last euro!!!

Hello to everyone...

Nurbs, it's really good to see such a topic within this forum, really interesting:)

To get to the point, apart from the fact that ambient/chillout music is not that much danceable and thus not a good chance to give out your energy and have a good time, there are also no decent clubs in Athens. There are no places that you can be fully satisfied by the sound and when there are, they usually charge them at incredibly high fees, discouraging promoters to host such events. Trust me, it's not easy to book gigs when you take really big financial risks and there might be a final turnout of 70 people....

As for the poor sound quality systems, the above come also as a reply to errorhead. Of course the sound was shit but it always will be when we are hosting events with idm, technoid, noise etc., music gernes which are pretty hard to be heard clean and powerful, compared to ambient or trance. Round kicks, clean basses and pads are always much easier in terms of sound engineering than distorted, bitcrushed and complex equalised rhythms and noises...

So, these are things to charge the club owners...However, by groaning continouusly, nothing serious will ever be done, so let's keep up taking risks, playing in shitty clubs, mess up with our inner calmness, whilst trying to change a few things around. It's fuckin' worth it.

And yes, dear Beat-Box, the best thing to do is including both ambient, laid-back music artists as well as hard style up-tempo artists within gigs.

Really good notice:)

Thats one of the most stupid things i ever read or heard and its very dissapointing that these words are coming out from a party promoter. Are you being really serious on that one, just because the music is 'dirty/distorded/noisy/whateverthatis' does that mean that the sound must be shitty/distorted/noisy as well? The soundsystem part is the most important factor when you throw a party, and YES i've heard crystal clear powerful idm/noise/breakcore even in free parties here in Athens so dont give me that bullshit that specific genres are pretty hard to have a decent soundsystem. Try hiring a proper PA next time instead of being ridiculous by saying all that..

i don't ever try to sound aggressive or offensive though I receive a very aggressive behaviour...why that? Makes me wonder...

Dear Errorhead, what I said implies also that when it comes to these genres, it is true that you really need a good soundsystem to make things sound good. For the moment, we're struggling financially to host events every one or two months and we never actually had the chance to spend money on a better PA. Plus I was pointing this out to the shitty soundsystems already installed in most of the clubs/venues we have made a gig. Organising such events in Greece is not easy. We are absolutely honest in what we are doing and instead of moaning in this awful way, it would be good to support such efforts, rather than being a prick.

P.S. And trust me, I have heard crystal clear soundystems in idm/noise/breakcore etc. parties. You just can't be the judge of everything mate.           www.spectraliquid.com

Actually, there are good events every now and then.

As Beat-Box mentioned, Island of Fire was a really good chance to enjoy chillout music, Spectraliquid are throwing parties every 2 months.

As for Thessaloniki (where I live) we had Reworks 07, with really great idm/chill music in the experimental stage, Arder keeps on throwing experimental events, Zenit hosts interesting live performances and dj sets and we can look forward to Murcof + Spyweirdos live in January (Athens and Thessaloniki).

The thing is, all these events have nothing to do with trance party organizers. So, forget about having a chill/idm stage in a trance party, you will have to look for this kind of music elsewhere.           --- open the doors and let the music flood in ---
