Hey guys,

Looking at laptops again and I want some opinions... I'm interested in a new laptop that I can primarily use for music production and live performance. I'm also looking for something I can do some video/graphic editing with on the side as well so to my knowledge a decent video card is still important. Just want to know what computers you feel would be the better bang for my buck...

The i5 2410m, 6Gb Acer laptop for $699...

or the i7 2630qm, 6Gb laptop Asus laptop for $935...

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=62166&vpn=A53SV-B1-CBIL&manufacture=ASUS

I know the 26230qm bench awesome, but for what I'm doing, is it worth the extra money? I'd rather not spend it if I don't have to...
          mmmmmm... ambient

I dont think it will be so much of a difference to justify the price the i5 is a capable procesor, and if you can invest the difference in other equipment better save it.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

against the acer yes, but before toshiba I would pick up Asus or lenovo think pad.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

yeah I'd go ASUS i5. Spent $800 on mine around christmas time and it's been rock solid stable, never crashed at a gig and it's my sole production computer as well...and I throw a lot of shit at it and it performs beautifully.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Nothing wrong with toshibas, but my experience with asus has been quite good, and well they make the hardware too (mobos and video cards)           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

Yep, Intel release procesors every 6 to 8 months.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

went with the Asus 2630qm... got it price matched down to $900... I liked the idea of the Acer, but I heard of heating issues with it and since the Asus had no issues, is a more reliable brand, and comes with a stellar warranty on it's own, I figured I'd be better off splurging the extra $200 on all those things rather than settle for the Acer which although cheaper, not as good a deal in the long run...           mmmmmm... ambient
