As I can see it, thinking pure music production, it doesn’t matter which I choose their both just as capable of producing music, right?
If you got any tips, or warnings, please tell me.

I'm leening on the XPS1210, but I kind of fancy the 6400 as well...

FYI. I can not build my own computer, I have to choose between these two models. A friend of mine suggested that it doesnt matter which model I choose, but I should buy an eksternal soundcard on the side to boost the music production value. Agree?

oh, and the price is the same on both ..

Is there any difference between these two cards?

SOUNDCARD:
Sigmatel STAC9750 AC'97

SOUNDCARD:
SoundBlaster® -kompatibelt sound- and musiccard

They are both powerfull machines, but 12.1 screens are a bit small to work on, so i would rather have the bigger screen.

Seems to me that both these machines have powerfull graphic cards, which is not something you need for music production. So unless you are a gamer you can probably find machines with lesser graphic cards that are a bit cheaper.

Rather spend the extra cash you save on a decent soundcard.

built in soundcards are mostly not so good, all ive heard have high noise levels.

You might wanna have a look at the ASUS range too.
Very nice machines and also decently priced.

I would pick the "processor" and/or the "OTHER"

Thanks guys for replying.

I couldn't wait anymore, so I took a big decision (my first buy, it's huge for me) to buy the XPS 1210 because of weight and mobility for travelling around the world. The main question in my head was the size Blizzard. So I've decided to get an external 17" screen for home use, and a external soundcard.

Håper dette blir en ny epoke, en ny era I mitt liv. =)

damn it, all night, I've been thinking and almost regretting taking the 12.1" model. Maybe I should be smart and sacrifice the size by getting the 15.4" ?? These decisions are so hard you know. Good God it's not a matter of life and death. ^^ .. Freeflow, I'll be using Fruityloops and Cubase.. Vst's, was iz das man? .. I'm so amateur, that you can label me extreme-underground.

You shoudn't!
I still regret not getting a 12.1 istead of my 15.4 laptop.
Think that if you use it for music production at home you can always use another TFT lying around there as a secondary screen, and the portability you get with a smaller laptop is a bliss, especially if you want to take it with you at a party coz you'll be carrying a bunch of other stuff too ... controller .. cables ... battery
cheers!            Peace, Love, Death metal

Yeah, I've already gotten my self a 17" CRT screen. Which Soundcard? I have no clue.. I'm moving in with a couple of co-workers from work (we live in Denmark/CPH) and one of those moving in with me produces music on a semi-pro level (even though he makes dance-music - he's got a record deal) And he told me that he had a soundcard that I could borrow/buy. I think it was a Quote: "Terratec heter det. det er god kvalitet og 8 inn og ut kanaler på det, men det er ikke "konge" kort hvis du skal ha no lyd inn på PC'n da.. ellers fungerer det fint." .. So we'll see if I have to buy a better one or not. Freeflow, your from Noreg? Why didn't I know that? And sure, get your asses to CPH (When in Norway I live in Oslo) and we'll produce music, smoke Mary and maybe even take a trip and a party Everything is possible.

PS. I won’t get my computer before mid December.
