pretty much, and the weird part is that there is so much that can be done with just a few samples/patches but no, ppl just seem to stick to the lazy version, which is just copy/paste.

i don't agree. not all the music scene is the psy scene. listened/played and good games, saw good movies latley? sound today is at a very very high level, people are doing amazing things, and not every serious guy is copying lame skazi loops. but "unheard of sound".... donno, doesn't exist anymore imo. sure, creative ways to use things yes, but "new"... donno.
one time i said to someone here to get a SCOPE system, but was flamed, and told that money would be better spent on a moog or virus. to each his own. personally i couldn't care less about a virus. i know i have my secret weapons.

The Virus (or any synth with a decent mod matrix) is not a secret weapon, the skills and inspiration of the person programming it, are. I've actually sat down in front of my Virus C today to try and come up with some out of the ordinary FM sounds using Wavetables, pitch mod from LFOs with S&H, S&G and Wavetable LFOs and ring modulation and have been very happy with the results.
Have saved some great patches for the gig coming this Saturday.
Kinda like a challenge, take the most used synth in psy-trance and come up with something that sounds nothing like it. I've pleasantly surprised my self with how deep of a synth the Virus is. And with the help of an analog distortion from the Big Muff, I think I am going to be using the Virus C a whole lot more in tracks.

look i'm not saying the virus doesn't sound great, of course it does. it is all that you say and i agree for real.
but the topic you started is about unheard of sounds, you said you want new colors, not your bread and butter stuff.

Saving for Komplete 8, tis going to be my next purchase after I get some cash from the gig in London on February. Minitaur for Xmas, then money for Goa in January.
And that is going to be it for a while...I've run out of space in my studio.
Will consider the mobile mic/recording device as well...the only time I have recorded something from nature and used it in a track, was the wind swirling through my studio's balcony door when I was doing a remix for Deedrah.
