Alesis are to bassy indeed as i sai i tried them on a recording studio and belive me, they are unreliable. And behringer being crap? i would like and explanation really i belivve u are qualified to do., the main problem is the lack of info and that ends up in giving wrong info to people who has less information.

Yeah I agree, the Behringers aren't really a studio monitor, for about the same amount of money M-Audio make a really nice set of 2.1 Studio Monitors very flat indeed sound alot like my AKG k271 cans, but if you got money go Mackie you'll never regret it and either will anyone who listens to your music, Behringer not even in the game. I'd go alesis on name alone but I never listened to them so I can't say. But you can get the Subs nice and tight with the M-Audio Lx-4 Studiophile 2.1 system, you can expand it to 5.1 as well although for music stay with 2.1, check em out

Why don't you go for the most choosing monitor in the World , simply the Yamaha NS10M STUDIO or its new version the MSP10 ST!
I'm not working for Yamaha, just i'm a NS10M fan but Behringer is good too !
good luck !
peace.
