iphone... it does everything an iPad does plus has a phone. I find it very handy as it is much smaller and screen size isn't that big a problem when you can zoom in.
Plus with my macbook I can do whatever I need to on a big screen at home or whatever...
for my wifey tho she prefers her iPad because the bigger screen allows her to read mags & books etc. on a touch screen which is much easier for her physical disability than real books/mags n' is bigger than kindle (she has cerebral palsy).

I was thinking the i pad might be cheaper than I phone, because of it having wifi as well. Basically I am thinking to get it just to have an internet connection, and then I could run my desktop dedicated. I could use skype to make phone calls on it as well I suppose, which would be cheaper than a cell phone. Can I???
Common you guys, there must be someone out there who has one or the other....

It works very well as a document management unit, which is great if you work in a role that requires lots of travel & also if you go to a lot of meetings.
My wife loads all her Word & PDF files onto her iPad, which ways next to nothing, and uses this to view & search her documents which mean not having to lug huge folders & also not have to flip pages loudly to find information
If you read magazines between a number of application including the Kindle application, you can get a 12 month or more subscription of the full color digital version for the price of what 1 hard copy magazine costs.
It cant be used as a midi device as it has no USB or Firewire ports, but I think that in the future Apple or another company will adapt this as it would be very useful & cheap. It would be great if say Novation did a Midi keyboard application that was half the price of actual hardware.
I think for many people they see this as just a toy, and that is a real shame because the more you delve in to the applications you really find the possibilities are endless.
The other bonus is that if you are going on a trip & don;t need a computer, it weighs nothing, has email & internet access AND is very user friendly.
I don't think the iPed is very reliable, I have bought similar products over time from China & S.E Asia and there is a reason they never come with a warranty
The only benefit for buying products from such countries is that they usually come cracked for no extra cost

yes you can buy any phone and if that os has a voip client for it like skype you do not need anything but a dataplan for the phone/ipad whatever. many of my friends use skype or something similar on windows mobile based phones. of course now that the android is out it blows the iphone out of the water and any other phone.
