OK, right, any good music will work here.
Sometimes going out of techno is the way (eq, compression, mixing, filtering... there is music before and after these).
I would recomend Jazz : it is totally organic, very abstract and finnaly not built upon 4/4. For me this almost is an only genre to enjoy music without getting into analising the "how"s and "why"s.

I just finished listening to spiral by vangelis (1977)(a good example why you shouldn't compress and limit the shit out of your music. Loudness is not everything). Does anyone have any examples of a full on bassline before that? I think he is the first one to use a full on bassline. |

For me man you just need to take some lsd and start experimenting and going deep into sound creation that's were you will sound like your soul is! I did so last weekend and me and my friend had a great day finishing off our track! wippppeeee very happy! for the music did you check out Future Sounds of London they're the max man! |

Believe it or not, video game music is also good inspiration.
Any rearranged final fantasy cd is good.
Any resident evil\biohazard rearranged cd is also good.
